And for the 98,755th time I have been reminding everyone why they have to be reminded so many times to wash and sanitize their hands. Continuous compliance to hand hygiene is essential but is also causing dermal damage. Soap can dry out your skin and ABHR can dissolve the lipid barrier of the skin to the point of causing Eczema and Dermatitis. In addition neither soap and water or ABHR have Non-enveloped viral efficacy. And for the 98,756 time I am suggesting we get an option approved that does have Non-Enveloped Viral efficacy and that can heal hands damaged by ABHR and Soap. Did I hear someone ask what the solution is? The UK and Europe use HOCI for Hand and Surface Sanitization which does have Non-enveloped viral efficacy and can heal hands that were damaged by ABHR. HOCL is also an Eczema Therapy product as well as being a Wound Cleanser. Wouldn't it be great if this was available to everyone in healthcare and Food Service. Maybe then it would not be necessary to remind you for the 98,757th time to use hand hygiene.
Hand hygiene reminders never stop, but the small effort makes a huge difference in preventing infections. It’s easy to roll our eyes when it’s said for the 98,754th time, but let’s remember: consistency is key to patient safety! #InfectionPrevention #HandHygiene #PatientSafety #HealthcareHeroes
