PR is totally unpredictable at times. One start-up client, it took around 3 months to secure a big publication (Cosmopolitan). But during that time, we were securing credible niche and relevant publications to increase brand image, perception, credibility, SEO and essentially have a great PR portfolio to pitch the larger publications. It now seems to be rolling in, with just last week I secured another large publication, The Sun for them. Another client, we’ve been handling the PR for less than 2 weeks, and I have already landed an interview with a National Press freelance journalist who will spread her story like wildfire across all major tabloid publications. The interview was booked in a matter of days. This as well as 6 other placement leads in the same time - including a magazine feature. It’s a big reason why you should never listen a PR professional or agency that promises you specific results in a specific time frame. Watch to find out more. #PR #PRResults #Publications #Press

A while ago, I wrote a blog post about 25 Ways PR Can Make A Freelance Writer’s Job Easier. Now, it's time to flip the script. While journalists may not be concerned with making PR’s job “easier,” we can all benefit by better understanding the professional expectations around working together. That’s why, together with our Pitchcraft members who work in PR, I've pulled together this list of 25 little ways that writers can be a shining star in the eyes of the PR pros they’re working with. (This was partially inspired by Melissa Libby's post on the topic last month, too.) Even if you disagree as a writer, keep in mind you never know where someone will end up. In the past three years as Pitchcraft CEO, I’ve seen more than a few publicists shift into editor roles at major publications. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/ezjfPmuW Then tell me, PR friends: What did I miss on this list? #prpros #prprofessionals #mediarelations #freelancewriters #mediaindustry #pitchcraft #businesstip #prtips

Our team has many years of journalism experience so we know how to capture the real story, cutting out the corporate jargon and waffle. When working with clients, we discuss strategy, vision, goals, target audience, and find out as much as we can about what makes a business tick - what they do and why. Then we write. Using all of those journalistic skills we learned in education but, more importantly, in a busy newsroom and subsequent PR roles. Once approved by clients, we send it out to the media - TV, radio, newspapers, magazines and online publications, regional and national - targeted specifically to brief of story. We liaise with the media for interviews and coverage and, just like the photos above, we go with clients on interviews to ensure they're comfortable, supported and happy - and they don't forget any of their key messages in the moment! We also provide a FREE coverage report on media coverage so clients can see who's read, listened, watched and clicked. Have a look at a snapshot of some of our stories on our website - www.sassmedialtd.co.uk To book in a free, friendly chat over a decent cuppa, drop us a DM or contact us via the website. #PR #media #communications #businessdevelopment

'Our PR agency cannot write'... I've heard this same comment several times in the last two months at networking events and in new biz calls. My response: 'So why have you put up with it (and continued to pay thousands of pounds a month)?' Their response differs slightly but is always along the lines of: 'The contract has been in place for 5 years and it's a really exhausting process to find a new agency and complete a handover.' Good writing is key for PR agencies, if the copy is incoherent, the journalist won't knit it together and the press release will get binned so there won't be any results. My advice always comes for free on this: If you don't like the writing produced by the agency then it's essential that you find another contractor. An issue with the writing within a PR agency is a big problem, it's the CENTRAL cog and if it doesn't work, forget about good results. Don't tolerate it, there are so many talented people in the industry who will generate you results which exceed expectations, giving you a grin bigger than the one this chap is sporting... #pragencies #results #prexperts

Interesting read on "PR bad habits" || Perhaps, taking accountability is one step forward to bridging the PR and Journalism gap. Some of the top ones include:: ➡️Using industry jargon, bad grammar, and typos – so far as including the wrong reporter’s name. ➡️Overpromising and under delivering with the media, such as offering a customer you can’t provide. ➡️Pitching news that isn’t news or pitching a reporter on something they clearly do not cover. ➡️Sending the same pitch to multiple recipients is just spam. ➡️Asking for changes to an article that is beyond fact-checking. I hope we are all mindful towards our journalist friends; that's the way to build collaboration productively. Although, as agencies, the efforts and intentions have always been top-notch and diligent to honor the said relationship. #publicrelations #corporatecoms #journalism #factcheck #media #storytelling #content #news #collaboration #storypitch #reporters #pressrelease #prdaily #communications

📱📱 Calling all business owners building their #PR profile 📱📱 Can I write your founder story this summer? With all the twists and turns, triumphs and set backs that got you to where you are today? I'm a national news journalist and feature writer and I'm looking to take on some #PR project work in August. For £400 you'll get: 👩🏼💻A google meet call to explore your goals and boundaries when it comes to sharing your founder story for publicity. We'll find your best headlines and I'll interview you to find the most likely angles for press success. ✍️Then I'll write your founder story as if I were submitting it to your dream publication. You can use this copy however you like: for pitching, as a blog so customers can read all about your business journey and to give background and emotion to your brand. ✌🏻 Two rounds of edits and changes are included to get it just right. 📸 I'll also suggest the best images and video to collect to accompany your story so that journos have the full package when you pitch.

Hi PR practicioner, streamline your journalist outreach. ✨️Find 50 journalist contacts per month for free using this tools: 1. finalscout.com; pick journalist you wanted to contact > find their linkedin profile (through muckrack.com, or simply typing their name + freelancer/writer/contributor/media name on search engine) > copy the linkedin url > back to finalscout > find > linkedin email > single search > paste the url. + Available to sign up with personal email, and have several accounts + Available for integration 2. voilanorbert.com; a bit diffrent. You will need journalist name and their current company. + Better UI than finalscout - You can only sign up with company email - Not reliable; scouted >30 mails only delivered to ~5 Both tools offer similar functionalities, the pros&cons based on my experience using them in the past two month. Sign up today at https://lnkd.in/gN8iwPGN Let me know if you have any other journalist outreach tips or favorite tools!😏 #publicrelations #pr #journalist #themoreyouknow
