EXCEPTIONAL OUTCOMES TOGETHER AT NORTH CONNECT 2024 Reflecting on the transformative year North has experienced, a standout moment was our inaugural North Connect Conference, where we united our leadership team from across all regions. This gathering was centred around aligning on our values, purpose, and strategic growth plan for 2030. Our goal was clear: to understand and harness the diverse capabilities within our business, networking, and challenge ideas to unlock new possibilities for North. Our leaders gained a renewed sense of purpose and an aligned strategy to deliver exceptional value to our clients through innovation, collaboration, and fresh approaches—setting the stage for a lasting impact on the industry. Exceptional People A key highlight was the opportunity for our leaders to connect with the local Brisbane team following our successful integration in July. This not only strengthened relationships but also allowed the team to explore the expanded skills, services, and sector offerings now available to the Queensland market. Client Outcomes We hosted a client panel discussion that provided invaluable insights into why our clients continue to choose North as their trusted partner and where we can improve. It was an open dialogue that allowed our clients to meet our leadership team, understand our purpose, and see first-hand why we’re passionate about what we do. Digital Excellence @ North As we charted new growth opportunities—including potential services, sectors, and geographical expansions—we also focused on digital innovation. Led by Josh Symonds, Director of MI Digital Services, we explored how to leverage data and the digital landscape for greater impact. Insights from David Askie, Daniyal Mian PhD, and Jude Kiely highlighted immediate opportunities to deliver digital value to clients and continue setting new benchmarks. Giving Back, TOGETHER The conference concluded with a team-building initiative led by Corporate Challenge Events, where we worked together to build bicycles for the "Bikes for Tykes" program, supporting local children in need. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of giving back and the strength of collective effort. As we look ahead, the energy and insights from North Connect will undoubtedly propel us forward in achieving our ambitious goals, and we look forward to sharing this with out clients and industry peers. Reflection on #PAWorld 2024 London This was the best PA conference I’ve attended in the last seven years. 1. I witness the value of this conference remains very high. I recall some comments last year after the conference that there was little new material, and it was somewhat boring. This might be because this is already the 10th annual conference and for some PA experts with long-term experience, there may not be much novelty. However, the external environment is changing rapidly, and we need to consider, communicate, discuss in depth how we handle this uncertainty together. I have no doubt that the PAWorld is a forefront and leading conference where we can synthesise our collaborative intelligence. 2. Several companies attend almost every year, even though the speaker from these companies sometimes change. This continuity allows me to understand how a company’s PA strategy evolves over the long term. For example, Nestle shared its current stage, which focuses on skill-driven strategic workforce planning. This type of presentations often share ongoing strategies and directions rather than just success stories. During the session, participants could have the opportunity to collectively identify problems, think, and seek better solutions together. The Coca-Cola session, which shared lessons learned from developing its PA function over the past several years was similar. I’m convinced this is a significant strength of PAWorld. 3. Skill-based work is not just about the productised strategy by vendors; it’s also one of the top priorities for most companies. As uncertainty increases, a skill-based approach seems essential. However, many companies still struggle to measure proficiency objectively. If any company can develop a solution that logically addresses this issue, it could lead to highly disruptive innovation in the PA market. 4. Although I attend the PAWorld conference every year, 70-80% of the attendees are new. It is notable that there is an increase in attendees from Marketing and Finance, besides HR and Tech. Additionally, the number of tech solution vendors in PA continues to grow. Vendors like Glint and Peakon which were small startups when I first attended the conference seven years ago, have seen significant growth and success, with some being acquired by large corporations. Companies like OneModel, Visier, Talentneuron, crunchhr, revelio labs, Agentnoon, Claro, Techwolf, Pigment, horsefly, and WorkBuzz are not just tech sellers but essential partners in expanding the PA ecosystem. I am excited about their future. 5. Meeting people in person and having face-to-face conversations was highly enjoyable. The reason conference tickets were sold out is clear. Because people appreciate its value. I am grateful for the opportunity to spend meaningful time with many PA colleagues and look forward to more collaborations and discussions in the future.

The end of the year is a logical time to reflect on what you’ve achieved, but for me this year it also means looking back at my first 6 months as a business owner and what has been achieved in that time. My focus has squarely been on ensuring a strong foundation to my business, a layer that I can then build on. Getting the basics right - defining the services, domains and solutions and ensuring they meet the needs of the market - is critical, and whilst I’ve had a clear vision for this from the beginning, execution takes time. It can feel at times as though you’re not making sufficient progress, but zooming out to reflect has been a great exercise in seeing exactly how much has been achieved in those busy first months. I’m really proud of what Reo Group Professional Services has accomplished in that time. Some of the highlights include: 🟩 Development of our ProConnect Professional Services Methodology, a productisation of our processes that combines the experience of the multi-award-winning recruitment engine that is Reo Group with my 15 years of consulting experience. This means that every time clients work with us, they will consistently receive the highest standard of customer care and optimal outcomes, whatever their needs. 🟩 The formation of 5 solution delivery alliances 🟩 Formal partnerships with 4 technology vendors 🟩 Acceptance onto 2 vendor panels, with 3 more in the pipeline 🟩 3 trips to Sydney to celebrate wins and connect with the wider group through our annual VillageCon conference, companywide training, a stunning harbour cruise and plenty of fun in between. Looking forward to the New Year, I’m excited to be kicking off a meaningful ICT project at Perth’s Children’s Hospital to enhance their technological infrastructure. The ultimate goal of this initiative will be enhanced patient care and operational efficiency, a great way to start 2025 helping make a difference in this space. Overall, this is the intention that I have set. Helping the clients I partner with change the way they work to keep them moving forwards. I’m excited to welcome the New Year by connecting with my close contacts to see how we can work together to impact each other’s goals – reach out to me if you’re keen to set up a time to meet in early 2025! How to Master attending events? 🤔 The events circuit is buzzing with excitement, from the recent Money 20/20 in Bangkok to the upcoming #EchelonX in Singapore (https://lnkd.in/gUJwvT_u), and a plethora of other gatherings around the region. But here’s a question: how should you approach these events to make the most out of them? While the answer might seem straightforward, the reality is that many people could benefit from a more strategic approach. Here are some tips on how to elevate your event game and maximize your experience: ⏰ 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲, 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞 Arriving early gives you a chance to beat the crowds and strike up conversations with speakers or organizers. Similarly, staying late can often lead to more relaxed networking opportunities as the event winds down. ✍ 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 It’s surprising how many folks overlook this step. Take the time to delve into the event details beforehand. Familiarize yourself with the speakers, session schedules, and any special offerings. For example, for Echelon, beyond the usual stages, we have the Speak Zone and Roundtable sessions offering a more intimate experience. There are some close door sessions that require you to RSVP. Understanding the event's layout and agenda will help you navigate it more efficiently and make the most of your time. 🔊 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 Don’t be shy about broadcasting your attendance on LinkedIn. Share updates about the event and engage with other attendees. Posting live updates or photos can spark conversations and attract new connections. Remember, networking starts before you even step foot in the venue. ⛔ 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 Split your day into hyper focused time blocks. I like to do 30 mins blocks. Make sure each block has a specific agenda and goal. You want to avoid randomly bumping into old friends or aimlessly walking around the floor with no purpose. With clear time blocks, you don't even have to spend a full day at the event. This also allows you to remain productive for office work and not have to disappear all day for "meetings. 🤜 🤛 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐲, 𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 I did this a lot in my younger days. Have a clear goal on what you hope to get out of the event. Share this with a friend. The 2 of you should make a pact to motivate each other to get those goals done. Whether it’s collecting business cards, making meaningful connections, or attending specific sessions, having a partner in crime can boost motivation and make the experience more rewarding. Bet on it if that helps. When I was in SF, my buddy and I would set a KPI for how many business cards we would get at the end of the event (we trusted each other that it was quality conversations). Loser paid for dinner. Now, armed with these strategies, go forth and conquer your next event like a pro! 🙌

How to maximise your time and energy >> optimise relationship building As event organiser + attendee, these are some tips for you to consider 1. Are you clear about whom you want to meet? ✅️ Know why you need to connect with someone ✅️ Do your research - know who is coming, can someone help to open a door for you 2. DON'T SELL This might seem counter intuitive. But people can sense when your first agenda is to just sell them something. Prioritise being genuinely curious and being open. Focus on building new relationships with the people you would like to meet. 3. Join the official and unofficial meetups that happens around the event At the end of the day, we have limited time and energy,so we want to use it well but also be open to spontaneous and serendipitous meetups too.
