Will UK landlords get the financial help they need to meet 2030 energy efficiency targets? The government is considering grants, interest-free loans, and tax incentives as the deadline approaches. The UK government is considering support and incentives for landlords to meet the 2030 Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES), which require properties to have an EPC rating of C. Propertymark is calling for grants, interest-free loans, and tax incentives to help landlords comply. Ed Miliband, the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, confirmed discussions on financial aid but emphasized existing schemes like the Boiler Upgrade and Great British Insulation programs. Propertymark continues to push for tailored energy efficiency policies and clarity on exemptions for landlords. #sowenalettings #ukproperty #uklandlords #landlord #incometips #cornwall #cornwalllandlord #propertyincome #hmoproperty #buytolet #businessowners #wealth #wealthbuilding #financialfreedom #financialgrowth #cashflow #retireearly #addingvalue #successmindset #landlordmindset #income #propertymanagement #investing #freedom #news

With an election weeks away, there have been a number of EPC stories in the news. We've rounded a few of them up for you below. Rightmove surveyed over 14,000 homeowners and renters and launched its pre-election report. Their research shows a decline in landlords planning to make energy-efficiency upgrades to properties with lower EPC ratings. Their lettings expert Christian Balshen, commented: “Landlords need clarity around any legislation that may come in, but also need help with incentives such as bigger, more widely accessible grants or tax savings, as these, in turn, will help tenants.” 👉Read the full report here: https://loom.ly/4XUfdh0 This week The Guardian took a deep dive on EPCs. It raised several interesting points including reducing the length of an EPC from 10 to 5 years and many other reforms. 👉Read the full article here: https://loom.ly/TO8bip4 Elmhurst Energy reports that starting June 24, 2024, new regulations will enable sharing Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) data with property stakeholders and third parties with consent. This will enhance transparency and aid energy efficiency efforts, helping reduce fuel poverty and improve property energy management. 👉Read the full article here: https://loom.ly/8Hl8m2s #ecoapproach #elmhurstenergy #theguardian #rightmove #epc #energyperformancecertificates #netzero

On November 18th, the Ontario Energy Board published a Notice of proposed amendments to the Distribution System Code, which amendment are intended to facilitate the connection of housing developments in Ontario. The amendments will, for “qualifying housing developments”, increase the forecast period which electricity utilities apply in estimating revenues from a system expansion, which in turn will reduce the payments that developers have to contribute to offset the utilities potential losses. Specifically, going forward, the connection forecast horizon can be up to 15 years instead of 5 years, and the revenue forecast horizon will be 40 years instead of 25 years. In our third post on the various funding schemes in the energy efficiency sector, we delve into the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) scheme, its eligibility criteria, and the available measures. The Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund is a government initiative aimed at improving the energy efficiency of social housing across the UK. It provides funding to registered providers of social housing for the installation of energy efficiency measures and low-carbon technologies, with the goal of reducing carbon emissions, lowering energy bills, and enhancing the comfort of residents. To be eligible, properties must have an EPC rating below band C. Depending on the property, the eligible measures generally include the following and more. → Solid wall insulation → Loft insulation → Heating systems and controls → Solar panels and heat pumps Read the carousel to learn more, or click the link below to read the full article on our website. https://lnkd.in/e_M-5vAz #SHDF #Insulation #Retrofit
