The Gollis university main building is by far the most challenging project Pharo Construction has faced in Somaliland due to number of reasons: Hargeisa city centre has been built in a non-homogeneous way. Since the first buildings were not built in a methodical way, it has left awkward spaces to continue inner city building. Therefore, the site for the university main building was not regular or square shaped, it was fitted into whatever space was available. There’s only one road leading to the site, this road is feeding the two busiest roads in the city. There’s also a natural mini canal west of the building that drains rainwater overflow as well as an old graveyard north of the building. To overcome these challenges; a team of expert engineers and architects planned the building carefully to suit the topography and also respect the burial ground. Dedicated traffic marshals have been deployed to execute the comprehensive traffic management system to accommodate the delivery of materials. Temporary structures were implemented to allow rainwater to flow to the cannels without affecting construction works. We also invested in an advanced stationary concrete pump which allows delivery of concrete in congested areas. Forth Ports submits proposals for next phase of Harbour 31 as part of Leith regeneration Forth Ports Limited is moving forward with phase two of Harbour 31, known as The Dry Dock at Harbour 31, a new creative and commercial hub on land to the east of Edinburgh Dock within the Port of Leith. The Proposal of Application (PAN) submitted to The City of Edinburgh Council is the next phase of the wider Harbour 31 development plans for the area and follows on from the Planning Permission in Principle (PPP) submitted in March this year for 337 new homes and approximately 244sqm of commercial space. Winslow Constructors is set to commence work on the extension of Liberator Drive of the Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ) Stage 2 works are due to be completed ahead of schedule. Stage 2 civil works included drainage, sewer mains, pump station and rising main, gas, water, electrical and NBN connections along with internal roadworks, and bio-retention basins, laying the foundations for the industrial precinct adjacent to Ballarat Airport. Winslow is sourcing almost all materials from local suppliers during the precinct’s ongoing build and is on track to ensure half the 136 construction jobs go to locals. Once completed, BWEZ is expected to create 1200 jobs for the local community. After a recent visit to the BWEZ site, Victoria’s Minister for Regional Development Gayle Tierney praised Winslow’s focus on creating opportunities for the local community. "It is fantastic to see BWEZ taking shape, with local jobs, materials and opportunities for apprentices and trainees playing such a crucial role in bringing this important project to life,” Ms Tierney said.
