One of the most common and devastating poaching techniques used around the world. Snares are indiscriminate killers, catching anything it “snares”, and can remain active for long periods of time. Poachers use snares to catch a larger volume of animals for “commercial markets”, where they collect enough bushmeat to sell it. Rangers around the world do routine snare sweeps and patrols to eliminate these traps. This is the lesser known side to patrols, but is equally as important. #wildlifeconservation #antipoaching www.wildatlife.org

Two key concepts for coexistence with wolves (or bears or lynx) to be possible: diversity of wild prey and shepherd dogs. It is that simple and it is that achievable. Don’t let misinformation and ill intended people tell you otherwise. Even if they are the President of the EU Commission. #wildlife #coexistence

Elk herds are growing in western Montana, and private landowners are feeling the impact. While some see the animals as an asset, others are overwhelmed by the costs of supporting large herds on their property. With no incentivized hunting programs or federal initiatives to redistribute the herds, managing elk overpopulation is becoming a challenge. Experts recommend tailored solutions and collaboration between landowners to find effective ways to handle the issue. Happy Spring! As we enter the first few weeks of spring, it’s important to remember that bears are also beginning to emerge from their dens. When enjoying the outdoors, it’s crucial to remain alert in areas with a known bear presence. Always carry bear spray, and make noise appropriately, to avoid startling wildlife. __________________ #CrewSafeBC #WildlifeServices #WildlifeSafety #WildlifeControl
