As we welcome 2025, we reflect on tightening regulation on use of synthetic colors, with an enacted California legislation banning the use of Red 3 in all foods and other synthetic dyes in school-served foods; Illinois and 9 others States introducing bills for banning Red 3; and FDA considering revoking Red 3 general use permit in food, as the most notable examples.
