Over the past month, I’ve had the opportunity to join a cohort of 15 female founders tackling sustainability challenges across Europe. With female entrepreneurs capturing just 20.5% of venture capital deal value in Europe, the Village Capital Greentech program stands out not only by addressing pressing environmental issues but also by actively supporting women-led ventures. What does the Greentech scope look like? It’s common to reduce it to carbon accounting at first glance, when it encompasses much more. Within the cohort, I got to see firsthand the diversity of solutions in fields like bio-based materials, energy transition, and circular economy. • Algae Scope (UK) is creating seaweed-based materials to replace PFAS chemicals • Carbon Cell (UK) is developing compostable foam from carbon-negative biochar and natural binders • Ecolens (UK) creates automated energy assessments and recommendations for building optimization and retrofits • GREENDUR (Spain) focuses on industrial decarbonization through high-efficiency thermal energy storage systems • HaPPE Earth (Ireland) develops the world’s first complete on-site bio-digestion system for healthcare services • Mardeca (Germany) is addressing maritime efficiency and decarbonization • NEWORN (Austria) created a second-hand marketplace for baby and children’s clothing, promoting eco-conscious parenting and reducing clothing waste • ReviveBattery B.V Battery (Netherlands) provides lead batteries with a second-life, while offering battery monitoring and passport services • Trashify Tech (Estonia) leverages AI for waste management processes to help organizations switch to a circular economy system • SCALE Advanced Biocomposites (France) is developing bio-based materials to decarbonize advanced composites • SIEve (Italy) is developing an all-in-one regenerable filter for wastewater treatment • SmartShift Energy (UK) is helping people find the greenest, fairest, and cheapest energy tariffs, supporting the transition to renewable energy It’s been an incredible experience having Resilient be part of this cohort, selected from 300+ eligible European ventures. As Summit Week comes to a close, I want to thank Village Capital and the Visa Foundation for making this happen. Special thanks to Zarina Gabdolova, Emma Scarf, and Marta Zaccagnini for orchestrating the sessions throughout the program.

Reflections on My Transformative Journey at the Social Innovator Hub (SIH) Program in Sendai, Japan ✨ I was in Sendai, Japan from early August until late September 2024 to participate in the Social Innovator Hub (SIH) program by JICA. It was a life-changing experience throughout my journey. The program emphasized solving social problems using a co-creation approach for a better world, with Japan as the use case. Throughout the program, I was delighted to collaborate with teammates from different countries to solve landfill problems. I am proud to mention: 1. Maral Davaanyam from Mongolia 2. Habib Abiola Abdulraheem from Nigeria 3. Shlok Shrivastava from India Although we didn’t know each other before the program, our group became unbreakable. We worked together almost every week and made time for group outings as well. This strong bond made my experience in Japan truly unforgettable. I still remember our first group outing at Dumbo's Pizza Factory near Sendai Station, which marked our commitment to working seriously for this program. The team dynamics weren't always straightforward, which kept things from becoming boring. We often had debates in nearly every meeting. However, through these discussions, we were able to nurture our ideas and build a strong, robust foundation. Our team focused on solving landfill problems, choosing this issue due to its seriousness. Globally, landfills account for approximately 1.6 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. In Japan, the average lifespan of a landfill is just 22.4 years, and it is often even shorter in most developing countries. To address the problem, we propose optimizing plasma vitrification technology to convert toxic incineration ash into eco-friendly, high-value slag. This approach not only reduces operational costs but also supports sustainable and carbon-negative construction materials. Our hard work finally paid off as our team was recognized as the most innovative team, and I was honored to receive the co-creation award as an individual. This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the support of our amazing mentor from Dentsu, who provided intensive guidance throughout the program. They often acted as a deal-breaker whenever our team encountered deadlocks or engaged in lengthy debates. My highest appreciation goes to our mentors: 1. Nozomi Koseki-san 2. Nobuyasu Kaida-san The most unforgettable moment was our site visit to Sendai’s landfill and incinerator plant. We learned a great deal about how Japan manages waste and treats landfills. This experience allowed us to formulate innovative ideas for solving landfill problems. This visit would not have been possible without the assistance of 鎧坂文菜-san and the support from Sendai City. I would like to extend my gratitude to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Dream Incubator, Sendai City, Tohoku University, and, last but not least, all my fellow participants for making this experience possible. 😊🙏 頑張ってください!

💫 Good morning LinkedIn! I had the incredible opportunity to lead an impact workshop at our ecoplanet team offsite in Mallorca last week. 🌴 The workshop was all about Impact Creation, and it was genuinely inspiring to dive deep into what impact means and how we can maximise it. So it felt like a great connection of my last job and new job; combining these two passion topics left me with a big smile 😍 (after the shot below was taken 😁 ) At ecoplanet, we provide companies with tools to make their energy consumption more efficient and greener, driving sustainability and positive effects on people and the planet. Looking a bit deeper into the components of impact and measurement, we discussed six characteristics that are the fundamentals of impact: 💚 Intentionality: The purpose behind founders' drive. 🌍 Impact Logic Model: The scientific understanding of how to solve specific challenges. 💚Interlock: The correlation between impact and financial success. 🌍 Depth and Breadth: The scale and degree of change of a particular solution of impact. 💚Additionality: The extent to desirable outcomes would have occurred without the company. 🌍 Impact Measurement and Management: Actively tracking impact outcomes and iterating on offerings. I’m thrilled to see the engaged discussion on making ecoplanet an even more impactful company. Our upcoming green procurement product aims to establish Strong Interlock and Strong Additionality, helping our customers save on costs and reduce their environmental footprint - stay tuned! Here’s to driving positive change and embracing the opportunities that lie ahead!🌍💡 Big shoutout to the amazing Elena Harumi Stark from AENU who provided key inspiration for this session and my co-host Florian Engels who planted the idea! Our impact methodology continues to be a guidance also in my new position. #Impact #Sustainability #EnergyTransition #PositiveChange #ecoplanet
