I'm trying to impulse my learning of How People Happens and How Teaching happens (Paul A. Kirschner Carl Hendrick) forward by forcing myself to write down ideas and connections between key concepts/dimensions (I'm trying to do retrieval practice for concepts I don't remember quite well yet by looking at the books just in the case I can't retrieve the information by myself). I'm sharing this into this table: https://lnkd.in/ejVMUQ_k Also, I'm deliberately trying to connect this book with other papers, books I have(been) read. For example, I included in the table ideas from Anderson's paper (1998) "Radical constructivism and cognitive psychology" (which Carl Hendrick recommended as a necessary reading, I totally agree!) and Barbara Oakley's Uncommon Sense Teaching ideas about direct instruction and its relationship with "(cognitively) active learning" (the latter inside a framework of explicit/direct teaching). I also liked how direct/explicit instruction can be defined as "active teaching" (Brophy and Good, 1986), which is not equal to only "teacher led lectures". Rather, and also considering Rosenshine principles, direct/explicit instruction is a teaching approach where teachers convey concepts/informations, develop concepts through explanations and demonstrations (e.g., worked examples, scaffolding, advance organisers, modeling and a lot of checking for understanding), do active questioning, include a lot of guidance for preventing cognitive overload, give feedback, and so on (gradually achieving student's expertise levels that make them able to work -more or less- "independently"). More ideas on the commentary section--->

Have you read any research and developed insights related to effective CPDL and/or inclusive practice that could help others? Please add it, with your valuable insights, reflections and questions to my Padlet linked below - I'd love your input. I see so much important research and insightful reflections of this on LI and, on a busy day, I'm often guilty of skimming and planning on coming back to it (if I can, and remember to, track it down again). I'd love to create a resource of CPDL and inclusion-related research that can support school leaders to get snapshots quickly to support the development of effective CPDL and the learners within their context. Got a research paper and key takeaways to share? 1) Follow the link to the Padlet: https://lnkd.in/ev6czYFs 2) Create a post and link the research 3) Outline up to 3 key takeaways or insights 4) Add a comment and/or a question to prompt further discussion and reflection. #schools #cpdl #cpd #traininganddevelopment #headteachers #internationalschools #schoolleaders #teachertraining #teachingandlearning

Proud of this ambitious project that we launched at ACM COMPASS conference in 2021 led by early career scholars to lower the barrier of entering and engaging with international academic communities for their peers globally. Something particulary challenging if you obtained your degree locally (in Global South) and never had a chance to travel and connect with mostly Western academic spaces. Diversifying how we produce knowledge should be deliberate and by-design in our conferences. Challenging the status quo with ideas like the shadow program is a good reminder that change starts with experimenting. re-tagging Delvin Varghese Hafeni Mthoko

Something a little different from #TrainingTuesdays this week... rather than a single resource, we bring you an entire website dedicated to the #methods used in #ComputationalLiteraryStudies, devised by the CLS Infra Project! This resource offers an introduction to several research areas and issues that are prominent within Computational Literary Studies (CLS) as well as to several key methodological concerns that are of importance when performing research in CLS. ➡ https://lnkd.in/ebm5FM8r
