I like this brief one pager that presents some great tips for fostering learning. If a teacher, a faculty, a school can get deep into these questions they are doing important work worth doing! 1. What do we want students to learn? 2. What skills do we want them to be proficient at? 3. Why? 4. How do we we know students are achieving our desired learning outcomes? 5. How can we best respond to student needs when they do not meet our desired learning objectives? 6. How might we best promote healthy, happy, inclusive learning relationships and atmospheres?

Student understanding is a complex thing, and even before we get to that, understanding what understanding is is pretty nuanced.
