Global Marketing Excellence for Merck & Host of The Black Sherpa Podcast

😔QUESTION: Did you know Bob Marley died from melanoma at age 36. There's so much about healthcare that isn’t talked about enough in the Black community, and melanoma is one of those topics. I recently had the privilege to host a podcast where we explored the experience of a Black woman who has lived with melanoma for nearly 20 years. Reflecting on my childhood, I remember school trips where teachers would slather suncream on all the white children, then look at me and ask if I needed any. 🌞 Relying on my trusty melanin, I’d say no, believing it would protect me from the powerful rays. Fast forward many years, and now, with better education, my mixed-race children don’t have a choice—they get suncream just like everyone else in their class. 😎 Despite progress, there’s still a critical need for continued education to provide equitable healthcare services. What struck me most during our discussions was that there is still a need for information and education to help people to make better health decisions. 🩺 It’s crucial to understand what’s normal for your body and to seek help urgently and confidently when something isn’t right. 🚨 It was such a privilege to be part of this project with some brilliant individuals. 🌟 Please listen to this podcast series and share it with others who might benefit.
