We're very proud to have been named Manufacturer of the Year at the prestigious edie Net-Zero Awards 2024, an event which brought together leading companies from across a wide range of industries and sectors to recognise key players in the drive to decarbonisation. This accolade celebrates our commitment to driving industrial decarbonisation and the transition to a net-zero economy, and to paving the way for a sustainable future for glass packaging. A key factor in this achievement is our ground-breaking NextGen Furnace technology, which uses renewable electricity to reduce carbon emissions. With a remarkable 64%* reduction in carbon emissions per bottle produced on-site, this innovation has the potential to revolutionise the glass packaging industry. (*based on LCA calculation: January to June 2024) After its first year of operation at our facility in Obernkirchen Germany, our NextGen Furnace has saved 35,000 tonnes of CO2. Other low-carbon initiatives include a hydrogen electrolyser that will replace 20% of natural gas with green hydrogen in our furnace at Limmared, Sweden and progress towards our goal of 100% renewable electricity in all facilities by 2030. #ArdaghGlassPackaging #AGPEurope #sustainablepackaging #NetZeroAwards #industryrecognition

Rotor blades are a significant recycling opportunity and challenge due to their size, material composition, and the need for environmentally responsible recycling solutions. At today´s EOLIS conference of WindEurope in Gothenburg, Sweden, Haras Najib presented VDMA´s “International Roadmap Recycling of Rotor Blades”. The roadmap will offer valuable insights into market potential and trends, helping to create a shared understanding of our future direction. It will also establish key principles and standards for the steps ahead, enabling all sectors of the industry to better plan for end-of-life.   It was enriching to discuss the roadmap exercise with industry experts and gain valuable insights to further advance the circular economy. Since 2003, A2A’s Milan plant has led the way in sustainable waste-to-energy transformation, converting 580,000 tons of waste each year into clean energy for the community. Through our partnership, A2A adopted our SOLVAir® technology, enabling them to reach lower emissions and generate 410 GWh of electrical and 450 GWh of thermal energy—enough to support heating for 40,000 households and power for 150,000 more. Our collaboration extends beyond energy production; we’re proud to help A2A fully recover treatment residues in the Solval® plant, using them to create new, sustainable materials and replacing resources to advance a true circular economy. Delivering on our commitment to sustainability through innovation.  Today, O-I  announced a significant investment at our facility in Alloa, UK. In our new 2024 Sustainability Report we released last week, we paint a clear picture about how the path to #sustainability is paved by #innovation. Today’s announcement is a proof point of our strategy.    Over the next two years, we’re implementing technology at Alloa to advance sustainable glass manufacturing long-term.     ✅We’re adding gas-oxy combustion tech to an existing furnace and building a second  ✅We’re increasing recycled glass   ✅We’re adding more renewable energy    The additional furnace will support growth plans for customers in the Spirits category as well as strengthen those customers sustainability journeys.    Alloa has been making glass since 1750.
