Merry Christmas from the Obijackson Foundation!🎁 This season, we are reminded of the power of love, compassion, and giving. While we faced a heartbreaking tragedy during our rice-sharing initiative on December 21st, our commitment to touching lives and spreading hope remains unwavering. As we celebrate today, let us honor those affected by keeping them in our thoughts and continuing to extend kindness to those in need. Together, we can heal, rebuild, and create a stronger, more compassionate community. May this Christmas bring peace, love, and comfort to every heart. Here’s to a season of unity and renewed hope! #obijacksonfoundation

Why this cause? Global efforts—like fighting hunger, supporting cancer research, and tackling social injustice—are undeniably important. But let’s not forget about the battles being fought in our own neighborhoods. For many single moms, life can feel like an uphill struggle. After facing endless scrutiny, broken promises, and constant isolation, they are often left without the support needed to make it through. These moms are doing everything they can to create a “safe harbor” for their families, yet they rarely have time for themselves or the connections that could help lighten the load. With our local community events, and this coming Praise in the Park, there are opportunities to change that. Through our Single Moms Coalition, we aim to “Help mom warriors find their village…one connection at a time.” Whether it's through resources, services, guidance, or just the friendship of a listening ear, we’re committed to ensuring these incredible women know they are not alone. Let’s come together as a community and show them the love, respect, and support they deserve. #PraiseInThePark #SupportSingleMoms #CommunityMatters #HelpMomWarriors #StrengthInConnection #MakeAnImpact #SupportLocal #CommunityMatters #SingleMomsCoalition #CommunitySupport #Empowerment #TogetherWeCan #MakeADifference #TogetherWeCanMakeADifference #NancysCloset #NancysClosetAZ

We are excited to announce Walk the Mile: Because HERstory Counts, an upcoming YWCA Carlisle and Cumberland County event dedicated to raising awareness and support for survivors of violence. This one-mile walk is more than just a moment; it’s a movement to amplify the voices of survivors and create meaningful change in our communities. We believe that every story matters, and HERstory deserves to be heard, respected, and acknowledged. By participating in this event, you’ll be walking in solidarity with survivors, advocating for systemic change, and helping to shift the conversation toward healing and justice. Why should you join? - Show Support: Stand with survivors and demonstrate that their experiences matter. - Raise Awareness: Help educate others on the pervasive issue of gender-based violence and the importance of supporting survivors. - Be an Ally: Whether you’re walking as a survivor, an advocate, or an ally, your presence will send a powerful message that no one walks alone. This event is an opportunity for professionals, community leaders, and organizations to come together and take a visible stand. Join us, network with fellow advocates, and help us create a future where survivors are heard and supported. Together, let’s walk the mile for change, justice, and the recognition that HERstory truly counts. #WalkTheMile #HerstoryCounts #YWCACCC #SupportSurvivors #EndViolence #CommunityAction #Solidarity

Topics on the Table: Relationships (the sweet, the spicy, and the seasoned) Mental Health (because our minds matter) Healthy Eating (nourishing our bodies, one bite at a time) Entrepreneurship (because age is just a number) Finances (let’s build wealth, not just wrinkles) Venue Vibes: We’re scouting venues—places that resonate with our spirit. And guess what? We’re all about supporting black-owned businesses. Drop your suggestions in the pot! Speakers Wanted: Know someone who can drop wisdom like honey? Nominate them! We’re looking for great speakers to stir our souls. Tickets, Please: All profits flow straight into The Circle of Life Inc Transitional Homeless Shelter. Your cup of tea will fund hope and healing. Everyone loves to say they stand with families—it’s the popular thing to do now. I’m so sick of slogans and empty promises. What I care about is this: where are the families standing with you? Don’t tell me you’re with families if you’re not willing to be in the trenches with them, to take the same hits they do. If you’re not fighting their battles with them and calling out the injustice they endure, then your words mean nothing. You want to stand with families? Then listen to their voices, meet their needs, and walk alongside them through the hard days. When they’re up against the walls of racism, systemic injustice, and inequality—will you be the one standing there with them, or will you walk away when it gets uncomfortable? We know who is truly with families by the company you keep. Who’s standing beside you when the stones are thrown? Who sits on your board? Who have you lifted up? And most of all, what do the families say about you when no one is looking? What do they say about how you have stood with them, when the spotlight is off, when the struggles are real, and when the fight is hard? Because at the end of the day, it’s not about saying you with or for families. It’s about being there with them, through every heartache, every injustice, every fight against a system that was built to break them. It’s about standing in the gap, challenging the racism and inequality they face, and lifting them up when the world is intent on knocking them down. That’s what it means to truly stand with families. Don’t reach out to me and ask me how to stand with families. Just stop being afraid, start living freely, listen and learn from families, help them to lead, and start speaking and living the truth! #justhelp #togetherwithfamilies #family

We’re getting closer to entering the villain era, and each day seems more dystopian than the one before (looking at you, tech oligarchs). Yet, in the midst of tragedy and destruction, human compassion, care, and kindness are shining brighter than ever. Luckily for me, 45 weeks ago, I started making weekly YouTube videos where I share inspiring stories, uplifting information, good people, and heart-centered businesses. This show, “This Made My Week,” has carried me through tough days and reminded me that goodness is EVERYWHERE. Yesterday, I released a new episode about the California fires. As I prepared for it, I felt my body relax and return to calm and trust. People are stepping up in HUGE numbers to support their neighbors, fellow citizens, and even strangers. It’s not just individuals and charitable organizations—it’s businesses too. This is capitalism at its best—profit for GOOD. I want to give a special shout-out to a few organizations I mentioned in the video and thank them here as well: Airbnb Bobbie GoodRx World Central Kitchen If you know of a business that’s showing up for victims, please tag them here. I’d love to know more about them and make sure I’m supporting those who make a difference. ✨ What’s one business or organization you admire for the way they give back? Let’s spread the word! Also, leaving the link to my YT video, in case you are craving some good news: https://lnkd.in/dYerUmUG

This framed acknowledgment is from Crain’s New York, recognizing me with for my nonprofit work last year—a moment that reminds me of the importance of confidence and community impact. The confidence I gained through pageantry has been invaluable in every role I take on, from PR expert to marketer, teacher, and philanthropist. This Anti-Bullying Week, I want to remind everyone that confidence isn’t just about self-assurance; it’s a powerful tool to stand up against bullying and support others. Bullying affects people of all ages, leading to lasting emotional and mental harm, from anxiety to diminished self-worth. We each have the ability to make a difference by spreading kindness, promoting empathy, and creating safe spaces where everyone feels valued. Let’s work together to foster a culture of respect and encouragement—one act of kindness at a time. #AntiBullyingWeek #WomenInnovators #StandUpToBullying #ConfidenceIsKey #SpreadKindness #EmpathyMatters #CommunityImpact #ChooseKindness #WestchesterStrong #NonprofitWork Thompson & Bender
