Seafood buyer participation in fisheries management decisions can support a more traceable, sustainable seafood industry 👉 https://bit.ly/3PZpa1K. Towards this end, we are working to ensure that seafood buyer voices engage decision makers in Regional Fishery Management Organizations (RFMOs). One example of this is our Korean Roundtable for Sustainable Tuna Fishing, which brings together Korea's largest and most influential seafood companies to jointly advocate for better management and operation of key tuna fisheries in the Western and Central Pacific Oceans 👉 https://bit.ly/4cZj1MB.

"Tuna is the most popular canned seafood; in fact, nearly three-quarters of the total global tuna catch ends up in cans. Continuing to meet consumer demand and ensure healthy fish populations for the long term requires strong fisheries management. This is especially true given the global scale of the canned tuna industry, which includes an extensive international supply chain that can make it difficult to effectively trace fish from boat to store and to enforce policies."

News from SFP 📰 Major squid importers have published sourcing information on SFP's transparency platform, the Ocean Disclosure Project 📣 As the first precompetitive collaboration to participate in ODP, this is a significant step for the squid industry to publicly disclose sourcing information. 21 out of 22 participants of SFP's Global Squid Supply Chain Roundtable have published a profile containing a list of fisheries supplying squid, alongside information on the sustainability and environmental impact of those fisheries. Carmen GONZALEZ VALLES MARTINEZ Gonzalez-Valles Martinez, Director of supply chain roundtables at Sustainable Fisheries Partnership said, “By participating in the ODP, we have gained a better understanding of the Squid SR’s representativeness in the global squid supply chain and its leverage by fishery. As a result, we will be actively seeking to engage new companies and new markets in the Squid SR to further advance its leverage in global squid supply chains.” From Undercurrent News ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/d86tjAFC #seafood #sustainableseafood #squidfisheries #fisheries #squid #seafoodsupplychains

When this fair was established, it attracted many merchants in the seafood industry including exporters and importers to gather here to look for each other as well as to "SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE? " But then, especially when COVID swept through, it cooled down the picture that Vietnamese exporters had painted for VIETFISH, the fair became "emptier" than in previous years. Exporters such as India, Indonesia, Korea, etc. are more present than importers coming to find quality and reputable supplies. Take a typical example: MEKSEA is the Platinum sponsor for Vietfish over many years and has invested extremely grandly in its booth, but the rate we welcome customers has gradually decreased. But that's not why we feel "bored" with VIETFISH, but it is the motivation for us to spread more to the international seafood community and say: Please come here, even though you have never been here before. never been intention but try coming here once, you will feel "it is true that the country is one of the top seafood exporters in the world", they have a variety of seafood products, especially nutritional value products extremely high but the price is extremely suitable. This is where you can find items that you "intended" to sell but didn't know where to start. This is where you can connect with "REAL" and "REPUTABLE" exporters instead of having to find these things on the INTERNET, but it brings many risks because it is impossible to authenticate the person sitting in front of the computer screen that we're working - "Who are they?"
