Indirect exporters to Europe urged to comply with EU carbon rules - The Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (Philexport) emphasized that even companies not engaged in Philippine exports to Europe will need to adhere to the European Union’s (EU) Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Philexport, referring to an SGV & Co. official, highlighted that Philippine suppliers, both direct and indirect, to the EU must acquaint themselves with the regulations. According to Lucil Vicerra, leader of indirect tax services and global trade and customs partner at SGV, CBAM should be seen as a mechanism guiding Philippine businesses toward maintaining competitiveness in the international market. "Taking action now, while recognizing its long-term nature, will confer a competitive advantage over regional counterparts," Ms. Vicerra remarked.
