📣 Insightful discussions at the CIIT on the CBSA's CARM initiative! It's clear from yesterday's meeting that the CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) digital initiative has sparked significant debate, with key stakeholders raising important concerns. From the Customs and Immigration Union (CIU), the emphasis on insufficient staff training and a potential delay in implementation is a critical point. It's worrying to hear from the Importer & Exporter Association of Canada that since May, there's been little progress. CBSA's progress update was helpful, but issues such as calculation errors underscore the need for further refinement. As Conservative MP Tony Baldinelli moves to delay CARM until April 2025, the CBSA must prioritize proper training and system readiness to avoid disruptions for importers/exporters. This debate will be pivotal for the trade community and I look forward to seeing how it evolves on October 2nd. 🛠️ Let's hope the right steps are taken to ensure a smooth rollout for all. #CARM #CBSA #Trade #DigitalTransformation #SupplyChain
