It's Net Zero Week!   APEM Group is proud to join the coalition of businesses taking meaningful action to decarbonise. In 2023, we launched our Net Zero plan, setting a target date of 2045 to achieve zero carbon emissions. Early in 2024, we re-calculated our carbon impact across all business operations, from direct emissions produced by our fleet and electricity usage to business travel and supplier activity.   Aligned with the SBTI (Science Based Targets Initiative), we are on a clear path to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement goals. In 2023, we made steady progress, reducing our overall gross emissions by 5% despite the business growing. This has been through many actions such as advancing sustainable ideas from our Environmental Committee Reps, establishing a Sustainable Travel Committee and also working closely with our landlords across our 17 UK & Ireland facilities to switch to use renewable energy sources.     In 2024, we will focus on quality data collection, engage with suppliers on sustainability issues, and enhance our reporting to better assess our impact. PNZ Carbon was born out of the need for an innovative, private sector solution to the threat inefficient homes pose to Net Zero targets. At a time when public funding for domestic retrofitting isn't enough to decarbonise the UK's homes, our scheme provides the investment needed to create greener, healthier homes for the future. Less than half of leading US listed companies have set a #netzero target, according to new research leveraging the S&P Global Sustainable1 Net-Zero Commitments Tracker and Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). Ambition remains lower than needed among companies with targets, as reflected by the share of emissions captured (51% of Scopes 1 & 2), the percentage of companies with interim targets (33%), and the percentage of CEOs with a monetary incentive linked to company emissions reduction (15%).
