🌟 Diving into the Magic of Audio-Driven Game Design 🌟 🚀 A few days ago, I embraced the challenge of creating a game in 48 hours under the theme "Outer Space". Driven by recent personal experiences and as part of an experiment, I decided to create a game using only sounds. This experiment led to the creation of The AudioNaut—a 5-minute audio game built with Unity, where you play as an astronaut needing to repair audio stations before the oxygen in your suit runs out. 🎧 The AudioNaut is designed to be fully accessible to visually impaired individuals, with no graphical content on the game screen. This approach was based on thorough research into accessible games and prioritizing accessibility above all else. 🌌 This project was a departure from my usual focus on visual elements, and it has opened my eyes to the powerful role of sound in gaming. It’s been a fun and magical experience discovering how immersive sound can be without traditional graphics. 🎮 I encourage everyone to experience The AudioNaut and see how sound alone can create a compelling game environment. 🎉 We are excited to share our latest project! 🎉 Recently, we presented AstrOasis as our Final Degree Project (TFG) in collaboration with UDIT, Universidad de Diseño, Innovación y Tecnología and Playstation Talents. This project has been an incredible journey of creativity and teamwork, and we are thrilled with the results we have achieved so far. What is AstrOasis? AstrOasis is a virtual reality game that combines the excitement of a first-person shooter with rhythm mechanics in a vibrant cyberpunk universe. Set in a dystopian future on the planet Oasis, players embark on a thrilling adventure through neon-lit streets filled with danger, where every move and attack must be synchronized with the music to be effective. This game has been developed by Alejandro Mosquera, Carlos Cabrera Fernández, Ignacio Costero and me. Key features of the game: Rhythmic Combat: Sync your attacks and movements with the music to achieve the highest score. Cyberpunk Environment: Explore a futuristic world full of visual and narrative details. Dynamic Challenges: Face enemies that appear suddenly and strategically. We are very proud of the progress we have made, but this is just the beginning. We have big plans for the coming months. Our goal is to continue developing AstrOasis to present an even more polished and complete product. Here in this story are some lessons to learn in business...call it "cross fertilization" of ideas. First let me quickly share my own personal experience. My mother is in the U.S. and suffers from Alzheimers. She equally has had several physical set backs with falls and flare ups from prior injuries. There was one therapist recently who employed the same "game" tactics to get my mother to do her physical therapy. The results were amazing! So....now....what does that have to do with your business or work? People like to have fun. Both your employees and customers like to have fun. Training Employees - Make it FUN. Use related learning games i.e. gamification....online Kahoot is a lot of fun. Training customers....use the same tactic. Make it memorable and fun. Do not do Death by Powerpoint....be EFFECTIVE and be FUN. Hint / Tip / By the Way - Fun SELLS....even serious topics can have fun sides to them. Sell more...be Fun.
