The Breakthrough Agenda Report 2024 authored by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the High-Level Climate Champions highlight the important role of R&D and innovation in advancing the adoption of hydrogen. - Supporting this finding a 'Mapping Study for the Brazilian Hydrogen RD&I Sector' was conducted by Brazilian Hydrogen Association (ABH2) and the Netherlands Innovation Network (NIN). - It provides a comprehensive overview of Brazil's hydrogen R&D and innovation sector and reveals valuable insights into science-based technological developments at various maturity levels in the landscape for low-carbon hydrogen in Brazil. Brazil is well placed in the move toward Green Hydrogen. Already, over 93% of its electricity generation comes from renewable sources including 58% from Hydroelectric sources. They are focusing on R&DI on Electrolyzers. Brazil has huge reserves of iron ore, and can become a global scale producer of Green Steel as well. Vehicles in Brazil run on a 50% blend of sugarcane derived ethanol, the highest ratio in the world.
