There’s never been a more exciting time to be in OOH This week Mo Moubayed and I travelled to sunny San Diego for the OAAA 2024 OOH Media conference. Here are my top takeaways from the two days: @Anna Bager’s stirring call to action to open the conference. In the face of digital advertising hegemony, growth for OOH will come from deeper collaboration, speaking as a unified industry and embracing new technologies and digital expansion OOH is more resilient than ever. @Laura Brandes from @Magna showed that OOH is the only traditional media channel with any form of growth in 2023, with linear, radio, print and TV all declining. The key reasons for this: digitisation, innovation, automation and sustainability. Emerging markets will lead growth. @GroupM’s prediction is that China will be #1 in OOH in 2024, pushing the US back to #2. What will this mean for the industry, globally? The global OOH industry network is strong, with great shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities in front of us. It was amazing to catch up with old friends like Jeremy Male Mike C. Cedric Bernard Sarah Parkes Tom Goddard Bob McCuin James Bicknell Barry Frey Christine Hanke Lanziano Clive Punter Kristopher Bistre Arran Javed Valerie Vespa Marc Miller Matthew Dearden and so many more and have the chance to meet new faces like Deakin Bell Katie Burwell Iva Anic Hussein Khader and recognise the moments It was fantastic to be a part of such a vibrant discussion about the industry on a global scale, and I left more certain than ever that future growth in OOH will be inextricably linked with integration of digital innovation and data analytics tools.
