In 2020, the Sangha Music School was born, thanks to the generosity of Tom Bedel and C.F. Martin & Co - longtime partners of Olam Agri’s Wood Business, Congolaise Industrielle des Bois (CIB). Their donation of acoustic guitars wasn’t just about instruments; it was about unlocking the transformative power of music for the Pokola community.
Today, the Sangha Music School is more than a music institution - it’s a sanctuary. It’s where individuals discover their voices, build a sense of purpose, and create inspiring connections that uplift the entire community.
This initiative reflects our commitment to creating sustainable, positive impacts in the regions where we operate.

Any alumni of Flakefleet Primary School in here? Or a company in need of a good cause to get behind?
Those who have followed the mighty Flakefleet's adventures over recent years will have seen their run to the Britain's Got Talent final including a Golden Buzzer and their tilt at Xmas number 1!
The point, of course, is to show that kids that you should hashtag
#daretodream and that anything is possible regardless of your background.
Their next big adventure is to have a music festival on their school field. They did this successful pre-pandemic and it's time for the return. The simple idea is to provide the festival experience for those families without the budget to travel to other festivals and once again show the kids that anything is possible.
They are in need of support be it either via donations or with a sponsor.

Sponsor wise, I am happy to advise and explore with anyone. Please DM me for details.
And anyone else? Please share this. You never know who YOUR share might hit.
And why am I involved? Simple. Once a Flakey kid, always a Flakey kid.

It's hard to understate how important it is that large venue chains recognise the role of small music venues in artist development. Not all artists get to arena size by gigging the Grassroots Music Venue circuit, but some do. Supporting the Music Venue Trust will help raise the profile of GMV venues and highlight the many issues faced.
🆕 We're really proud to be joining forces with Music Venue Trust to support the grassroots venues that create the headliners of tomorrow. You can now donate to support MVT's work on all bars at first direct arena and when booking tickets through our website.

I'm excited to share our latest blog post highlighting Coldplay's generous initiative to support young musicians. The iconic band has donated £14,000 to provide aspiring artists the opportunity to record music in a professional studio. This initiative follows their recent visit to Frome, Somerset, where they rehearsed for their Glastonbury Festival headlining performance. This gift not only fosters creativity but also empowers the next generation of talent in the music industry.

🎶 Want to make a living from your music?
Start making the first move in negotiations.
As an artist, sharing your music with the world is wonderful.
But if you want to get paid for it, you'll need to negotiate.
Whether it’s a sync deal or a venue contract, you'll face various negotiation situations.
👍 Here's a tip: Be the one to make the first offer.
When you set the anchor, you guide the value of your music.
Others might start with low offers if you wait.
Show them you’re here to make a living, not a donation.
It can shift the conversation to your advantage.
Make sure your music is valued for what it's truly worth.
Ready to place your own anchor in your next negotiation?

Interesting. So the argument goes:
1. The Council has made a decision based on a stated premise that teaching children how to play musical instruments in primary school up to s2 is not “school education” whereas in fact it is that statutory service (John Swinney having said so in 2016);
2. Because it is that statutory service, responsibility for the service must be retained by the Council;
3. Therefore the service cannot be transferred to the charity in the way the Council has decided;
4. And this means TUPE doesn’t apply, which will be a horrible shock to the Councillors who made the decision (all of them, without a word of dissent) on the basis of an assurance that TUPE would apply.

“Songwriting and performing is an essential vehicle for cultural awareness, understanding and connection” is how the team describes why they created Bush Music Fund (bushmusicfund.org)
“We’re offering a pathway program providing long term support to First Nations musicians from outer regional and remote Australia through grant giving, advocacy and performance opportunities.”
“In 2024, we've worked alongside Ripple Effect Band, Mulga Bore Hard Rock and James Range Band and produced a fully solar powered Guts Tour. We’ve also sparked partnerships aiming to develop financial literacy resources for the bands, offer connections to indigenous owned music management, and mentorship.”
Bush Music Fund is such a great initiative, and it’s one that anyone can easily contribute to. Visit their website (bushmusicfund.org) to find a ‘donate’ button, as well as links to the bands (to support directly!)

The future of a Hackney-based music programme for children and young people with special educational needs has been secured – thanks to new funding.
The Music Treehouse programme, run for more than eight years by award-winning music education charity HMDT Music, was on a ‘knife edge’ as its previous funding ran out.
Now, the scheme is safe for the next five years, after being awarded a £185,810 City Bridge Foundation grant. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eVd7Qwff
