As I stood on the hill just above the Gustaf III Airport in St Barths with my camera ready and back to the approaching plane, I found myself in awe of the precision required to navigate this challenging approach. The short runway, flanked by hills and the ocean, leaves little room for error – demanding the utmost skill and mastery from every pilot who lands here. ✈️💡 Just as the constraints of this unique airport compel pilots to perform at their best, the limitations and challenges we all face as leaders serve as powerful catalysts for growth and mastery. 🌿🚀 In the face of constraints, we are forced to think creatively, optimize our resources, and push the boundaries of what we believe is possible. It is in these moments of pressure that we discover our full potential, honing our skills and elevating our performance. 🧠💪 It is not just about technical skill or knowledge; it's also about mindset. Embracing constraints as opportunities, rather than obstacles, requires a fundamental shift in perspective. It means approaching challenges with curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn and grow. 🌈📚 As leaders, we have the imperative to cultivate this mindset in ourselves and our teams. By reframing limitations as chances to innovate, experiment, and push beyond our comfort zones, we create a culture of continuous improvement and boundless potential. 🌟🔝 #Precision #Mastery #Constraints #Leadership #Planes #Landing

well Boeing - what went wrong? #C-Suite Leadership & #OrganizationalCulture As a recommended #LunchAndLearn with #JohnOliver that provides a good overview of a structure of collapsed leadership. Employees will mirror the attitude and work expectations set by C-Suite and Managers. If leadership cuts cost and people, employees will create work arounds and be silent in order to keep their jobs. It was once rare for me to hear of a 'Leadership Shake-up'. Now it's become another usual news article - even here in this tiny island nation. I respect Mr. Calhoun and have read of the unfortunate accident and I have nothing to say of Boeing. However, what interests me is this: With 'Leadership shake-up' occuring quite commonly now, does our present time now demand a new approach to Leadership? And with that, must our workforce also align herself to the new approach - in support of their respectful leader? #Leadership #paradigm #teamwork #changes

When I taught Organizational Behavior to business students, each semester ended with students analyzing a major organizational event or a prominent leader using #organizationalbehavior concepts. 💡 Seeing reports like this in the news reminds me of how much I enjoyed that end-of-semester project. ✨ I would have loved to see the students’ analysis of this case! ✈️ #decisionmaking #culture #incentives #leadership

In a world where business leaders are expected to aggressively manage short-term expectations, long-term coherence and 'good' for business can take a backseat, often at the peril of a company's legacy. John Oliver's comic coverage of Boeing's recent quality and safety issues is one of the many takes on what's happening in the company. It's as entertaining as it is enlightening. An organisation that doesn't have a dedicated space to think and question long-term consequences of leadership decisions, cultural shifts and strategic actions, is bound to run itself aground. Boeing serves as a brilliant lesson on the cultural angle in M&A (often downplayed), profit-mongering, short-termism, leadership closed-mindedness and failure of strategic/org effectiveness teams in standing up to their leaders and showing them the mirror. A must watch! https://lnkd.in/gEX5k_wP

A culture perspective on the Boeing fallout from our CEO Jason Korman - The key is for an organization to transform its culture so that curiosity takes precedence. Leaders should demonstrate an interest in the what, where, why, who, and how of all operations. When something goes wrong, they should show that getting to the core of the problem, rather than finding someone to blame, is the most important goal. Determining the “what,” not the “who,” is the most important goal. #boeing #culturedesign

To revitalize Boeing’s ethos, the new CEO must surround themselves with individuals who share a genuine passion for aviation and the company’s mission to craft exceptional airplanes. Executive discussions should transcend mere financial metrics, delving into the realm of product innovation, customer feedback, and, critically, safety imperatives. Authenticity is paramount; Boeing’s leadership must embody a sincere enthusiasm for their unique products. https://lnkd.in/g6gcRDDe
