🌟 Excited to announce my upcoming intervention on September 12 at the WorldSkills conference! 🌟 As we gather to explore the powerful relationship between competition and transformation, I’m eager to share my perspective on why WorldSkills is more than just a showcase of skills competition - it’s a driving force for change! ✨🚀 🌍 💡 **Competition as a Catalyst for Transformation:** When we think about WorldSkills, the competitive environment ignites a passion for skills excellence. It encourages participants to push their boundaries, innovate, and strive for the highest standards. But the benefits extend far beyond individual achievements; competition serves as a learning excellence, sharing experience and catalyst for broader socioeconomic transformation. 🌍 **Beyond Skills Excellence:** Transformation isn’t solely about mastering a craft; it’s about harnessing those skills as a vehicle for socioeconomic progress. By cultivating a highly skilled workforce, we empower individuals and communities, creating opportunities that transcend borders. 🔗 **Contextualizing Skills for Economic Impact:** To truly make a difference, we must contextualize skills training to reflect the needs of our economies. By aligning vocational education with market demands, we can drive job creation and open doors for economic opportunities. This approach not only addresses skill gaps but also fosters local entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable growth. Join me as we delve into these themes and explore how we can leverage the power of skills and competition to create a brighter, more equitable future for all. Together, we can transform aspirations into achievements! 💪✨ #WorldSkills #SkillsTransformation #EconomicOpportunities #JobCreation #VocationalTraining #SkillsExcellence #Empowerment #WSL2024

Great to see the power of qualifications in real terms.
"My BTEC level 3 extended diploma in IT opened so many doors for me professionally and personally. Significantly, it saw me compete in my first regional WorldSkills UK competition. With the registration period now open for this year, I wanted to share my experiences in the hope that more young people can benefit from taking part in WorldSkills UK Competitions." A brilliant article by Lewis Newton. Inspiring to read how our competitions have positively impacted Lewis's personal development and career. Lewis also emphasises the importance of encouraging more young people to enter the 2024 National Competitions, which close on 28 March, so don't miss out! https://lnkd.in/ebAqifva Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eaq2TG-b FE Week

T levels do indeed open doors to a new experience of learning beyond the academic, traditional methods where regurgitation of information to pass exams is the norm. Allows to a great extent for the student to take control of their learning where skills and behaviours are paramount. Do get me wrong, I agree like many of you, it is a qualification that's resource heavy and requires meticulous planning across provider departments, but it can be done, with a few stumbles along the way, nothing that one can't recover from. T levels inspires committed learners to engage in conversations with their teachers that transforms their mindsets to the ' I can do this...' through critical and lateral thinking processes. Embracing T levels within the FE sector by providers demystifies the perception that FE Voc routes are for those who have 'failed' the traditional A level route. Having been part of the team that has seen learners develop their resilience, and continue their T level journey amidst a T level teaching and assessment landscape that was/is enduring lots of negative publicity, there's definitely a future for this qualification framework. All that is needed is empowerment of the delivery teams by the SLTs through focused investment. Hence my excitement about this new concept of T level ambassadors. Looking forward to joining the ambassadors and the other emerging T level networks to drive the key messages and mitigate provider concern and further develop this education option.

Have questions about WorldSkills Conference 2024: Moving TVET to the Top of the Global Agenda? We've got answers! The largest skills conference to be held in Europe this September alongside WorldSkills Lyon 2024 is laser-focused on ensuring attendees participate in a relevant global conversation on skills. We sat down with Laurence Gates, Conference Coalition Chair and #WorldSkills Board member, for a Q&A to answer some of your #WSC2024 questions, including: Q - "How do you ensure that the Conference is relevant and engaging for delegates?" A - "We recognize that different countries and regions have unique contexts, challenges, and priorities when it comes to skills development. That is why we strive to create a program me that offers something for everyone. It is not just about the content, but also how that content is presented.
