What a year it's been for life sciences in Lithuania! 2024 brought plenty of milestones worth celebrating – here's a quick look back: 🔸 Lithuania ranked 3rd globally in biotech performance with an impressive 20% R&D intensity. 🔸 The launch of the new Biotechnology Museum marked 40 years of biopharma history. 🔸 HealthTech, Life Sciences & Wellness entered the top 5 startup industries. As a group of life science companies, we also had our own highlights: 🔸 The CEO of Biogroup Baltics has changed, and Martynas Stanionis took the lead of the group of companies. 🔸 We introduced Biospektra to the market, raising the bar for quality medical equipment. 🔸 Launched a new Biomedikos centras hearing center in Šiauliai, bringing together the latest technology and a focus on client comfort in one innovative space. 🔸 Biotecha organized two tours across the Baltics with our partners Merck Life Science and Bio-Techne. From live demonstrations to engaged discussions, the strong interest reaffirmed the importance of collaboration within the biotech community. These highlights are just part of the story – there were many more proud moments along the way. 2024 showed that great things happen when we aim high and work together. Post-Covid, many countries in Southeast Asia are pursuing their own biotech parks. Starting from Indonesia's Kura Kura Bali, to Philippine's pharmazone, and Thailand and Malaysia all building their domestic capabilities for biopharma and device R&D and manufacturing. Singapore is a decade ahead with its biomedical hub with many biotech and medtech companies housed there. It is important to note that this biomedical innovation hub model, bringing physician/scientist community with entrepreneurs and investors, started in the US and Boston ecosystem is one of the first in the world. Heal Venture Lab is happy to announce our upcoming webinar on the comparison of Boston and Singapore biomedical ecosystems. We aim to understand the growth of the Boston and Singapore biomedical ecosystems, from their inception to their current states, and identify collaboration opportunities between these two leading hubs in the biotech space. Members of EGNATON e.V. and followers of the EGNATON e.V. #Forum In medicine, incubators provide an environment for premature babies, ensuring an optimal climate where newborns can grow in peace. In a figurative sense, "incubators" also fulfil this function for company founders. Incubators are facilities that help companies set up businesses and support them in the process. European universities are increasingly making such facilities available. Today's example of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven not only shows how complex the planning of a laboratory building is, demonstrating this challenging task, especially in cases involving overarching particular tasks, but it is also an exciting process. Paul Lodewijckx and Kirsten Cornelissen will discuss this future-oriented topic at our EGNATON Forum in June 2024, 4-5 pm CEST.
