Keeping brainstorming sessions focused and productive requires a strategic approach to avoid them devolving into complaint sessions. Start by setting a clear agenda with specific goals and time limits for each topic. Encourage positive, solution-oriented discussions by asking participants to bring at least one constructive idea for every issue they raise. Utilizing a neutral facilitator can help steer the conversation back on track if it veers off course, ensuring everyone stays engaged and productive. To apply these insights, prepare a structured agenda and distribute it before the session. Use tools like whiteboards or digital platforms to visually organize ideas and keep discussions focused. Encourage a culture of respect and active listening, reminding participants of the objective: to generate actionable solutions. By implementing these practices, teams can run efficient and effective brainstorming sessions that yield valuable outcomes. #Brainstorming #Teamwork #Productivity #Innovation #MeetingManagement

Communication is at the heart of every successful project. Without clear channels and consistent updates, projects can quickly veer off course. Here are five tips to boost communication in your team: Regular Check-Ins: Keep everyone on the same page with consistent updates, whether through weekly meetings or quick daily stand-ups. Clear Roles: Make sure each team member knows their responsibilities to avoid confusion. Collaborative Tools: Use tools like Slack or Teams to keep communication accessible and organized. Teams thrive when solving their own challenges rather than following 'mysterious' frameworks. Real solutions emerge when people who understand the daily work collaborate to find answers. Good facilitation guides this natural process, helping teams unpack problems and build solutions they truly own. No black boxes. No 'prescribed-process'. Just practical results that stick because they come from within. The best answers are already in the room... they just need space to emerge.

Here are my top takeaways from joining a community of the top 1% facilitators in the world! I received my Workshopper Master certificate today from AJ&Smart ! I’m incredibly excited to already be using these techniques, seeing great results, and getting support from the online and Berlin community of amazing facilitators. 1. If you’re trying to build something innovative, but you’re doing it in a talk-at-each-other style meeting, you’re going to have a terrible time and months of your life will be taken away with something that could have been an email. Meetings don’t have to be so boring and life sucking - you can get to a better solution faster with workshop techniques that are actually fun and collaborative! 2. Companies that visualize information, use “together, alone” and brain-writing tactics for problem solving, will come up with a solution that hears from the diverse group, gets to a better solution, and will do it faster than their competition. Companies stuck in the old meeting style to innovate won’t grow and won’t survive. 3. Workshop techniques don’t have to be super complicated to get to that “Ah-ha!” moment. Simple exercises using stickies, voting, and visualizing the info in different ways can do wonders for bring inspiration and making the decisions clear. Before taking this course and joining the community, I thought there was only one way to make decisions in a typical company setting. Now, I’ve learned how companies can transform and excite their people again! Plus it's actually cheaper to do than the months of delay on that killer product, business strategy, or team alignment that's desperately needed. If you’re in a company that has 10 meetings to figure something out and you’re so dizzy from “let’s circle back to that in our next meeting” then something needs to change about your meetings! #certificate #workshoppermaster #workshops #learning #coaching #training #collaboration

Face it, meetings are expensive - mentally and physically. At the least, set the expectation that they be collaborative, accelerate decision making, and improve group unity. Why have a meeting if you don't have 100% participation? Establish rules for your meetings: 🔺1. Clarify expectations. Only supportive behaviors, acknowledgement of diverse opinions, collective efforts to address challenges should be brought to the meeting; 🔺2. Be a role model for your expectations. Establish a safe and trusting meeting environment to grow each person's communication skills. Acknowledge all participants' contributions and successes. 🔺3. Rotate meeting leads. Look to rotate the meeting facilitation among all team members to give everyone lead opportunities. This allows quieter individuals structured opportunities that empower them to speak. 🔺4. Look for alternative contribution methods. Consider written input through surveys, reports, and studies as valuable participation. 🔺5. Summarize the actions. Document the meeting. Create a simple bullet point list which records actions, new future topics, and responsibilities. 🔷Takeaway: Productive and efficient team meetings produce more impact, grow individuals, and help team unity. Want to learn how to implement this quickly? Let's talk. – Coach Mike #teammeetings #teamparticipation #actioncoachone

𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀? Here's a facilitation technique to break the cycle: 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 + 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗪𝗲 (𝗛𝗠𝗪) questions. It’s a simple but powerful way to turn conversations into action. 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭: 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀With your team, start by gathering insights from the real experts: the people closest to the issues. These could be frontline staff, process owners, or key stakeholders. Here’s how to structure it: • 𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻-𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 like: o What’s working well in the process? o What challenges do you face? o What do you wish was different? • 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 —are there recurring pain points? Opportunities? In a recent session, this approach uncovered hidden bottlenecks and sparked team-wide "a-ha" moments. 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗪𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 As you’re gathering insights, have your team reframe the pain points into opportunities for improvement. • While listening to the experts, 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘸𝘦…? o Problem: Duplication of effort across teams. o HMW: 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯? • Focus on 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. • Prioritize the HMWs: Decide which problem to tackle first 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯: 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 Generate and implement solutions. • What solution can the team experiment with? • Put the idea it into action, refine as needed. This exercise shifts the focus from problems to solutions, setting the stage for better brainstorming, decision-making, and action. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆: You gain a deep understanding of the issues and their context. 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀: HMW questions channel energy toward creating solutions. 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: The team feels heard and equipped to make an impact. Want to try this in your next meeting? Let’s chat—I’d love to help your team uncover their next big breakthrough!

What’s better than learning from a textbook? Hearing directly from the experts shaping the future! 🚀 In this series, I’ll share insightful takeaways and fresh perspectives from the guest lectures I had the privilege to attend. Each post explores valuable lessons that can inspire both personal and professional growth. 🌟 Understanding Team Dynamics 🌟 I had the opportunity of attending a guest lecture by Aidan Harney, PhD. on team dynamics, packed with actionable insights on building and sustaining effective teams. The interactive icebreaker, which involved discussing the best or worst team we’ve ever been on—along with a song or type of food that captured its essence—helped create an open and collaborative environment, setting the stage for an engaging session. Key Takeaways: 1. What makes a team a team? 🤝 A true team goes beyond individual efforts—it’s about working toward shared goals with clear roles and mutual respect. I learned that understanding and trust are the foundation of strong collaboration. 2. What makes a high-performing team? 🚀 High-performing teams excel through trust, open communication, and accountability. Innovation and adaptability keep them competitive, while leadership and conflict resolution play key roles in driving success. 3. What sustains a high-performing team? 🌱 Maintaining success requires constant effort—regular feedback, inclusivity, and adaptability. Creating an environment where everyone feels valued and motivated fosters long-term sustainability. The session was a reminder that great teams are built intentionally, not by chance.💡 #Teamwork #Leadership #Collaboration #Growth #ProfessionalDevelopment
