Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s startup on the global stage, the success story of a middle-class family boy from Bhubaneswar who defeated some of the most prestigious universities in the world.
Anup Paikaray , Founder of Newrup Tech Solutions, a Startup Odisha-supported startup, is a recent graduate from Odisha University of Technology and Research, with a degree in Electronics and Instrumentation.
He was the winner of the Smartideathon contest organized by GITAM University in August 2023, for which he had the chance to attend the Boston immersion program at Northeastern University from March to April 2024.
In Boston, his startup, Newrup Tech Solutions, participated in the flagship business presentation event called Pitchathon. Here, he competed against startups from some of the greatest universities in the world, including Harvard University and MIT Innovation Lab.
Initially, Anup bhai feared how he would compete against these top competitors, but he gathered the courage. When he went on stage, the first word he said was “Jay Jagannath.”
After a tough competition, he emerged as one of the winners, winning a cash prize of 2 lakhs and a trophy. Most importantly, he made India proud as he waved the Indian flag in front of all the foreign audiences, proving that Indian students are not inferior to anyone else.
In the past, Anup Paikaray and his startup have won many prestigious awards, such as Best student startup of the year 2023 by Startup Odisha under the Department of MSME, Green Bengal Innovation Contest, 3M Young Innovator’s Award, Azim Premji Social Enterprise Award, and many more.
I hope he continues rising in the future.
it's my privilege that I got a chance to met him during a seminar.
The gist of putting his story in my linkdln is that you don’t have to be from a great university or a high-class background to be a winner.
And never feel ashamed to represent your culture. I would like share my experience like I always start my presentation/ seminar by saying jay Jagannath wheather it is formal or informal meeting. from my 2yrs of journey many times i got warned before going in to stage like -:
sasmita don't say "Jay Jagannath" if it's
formal meeting or a seminar. I don't think if I'll start my presentation or pitching by saying jay Jagannath it will create bad impression infront of the audience and judges. Its all about how confident you are about your project and your presentation skills, how depth of knowledge you have regarding that project.
