Today, between one call and another, I had the opportunity to join Prof. Sabine Junginger, PhD 's speech at GovTech Forum. The highlight that I take home: co-design is crucial in the context of purpose driven innovation. If you work on a project, you must remember that you don't work IN a project, otherwise - trapped in the single project - without connecting people, you will find yourself reinventing the weel every time. If instead you also dedicate the effort to connecting the objectives and bringing people around the table, taking off the hats they usually wear, designing together, than you can generate real value. This is way I'm so deeply in love with design. Whatever you want to call us( designers, strategist, innovators, cultori della materia, dreamers...)we have a super power: put people together in the room and, by the art of asking powerful questions, change the rules. To create innovative solutions, I often combine various concepts and modifiers through a structured approach: 1. **Idea Generation**: I gather ideas from diverse fields, including technology, design, psychology, and environmental science. For instance, blending principles from sustainable design with advanced technology can lead to new eco-friendly products. 2. **Cross-Pollination**: I look for connections between unrelated domains. For example, applying concepts from biophilic design (nature-inspired architecture) to urban planning can result in healthier living spaces. 3. **Modifying Existing Solutions**: By taking existing solutions and modifying them, such as improving usability or integrating new technologies, I can enhance their effectiveness. For instance, adapting a well-known app to a new cultural context can increase its relevance. 4. **Iterative Prototyping**: I create prototypes that mix different ideas and receive feedback to refine them. This iterative process allows for continuous improvement and innovation. 5. **Collaborative Mindset**: Working with diverse teams helps to combine varying perspectives and expertise, leading to more creative outcomes. Collaborative brainstorming sessions often yield unexpected and innovative ideas.
