🌿 In 2024, The Nature Conservancy in Connecticut secured a $361,080 grant from the EPA through the National Fish and Wildlife Federation. This grant has enabled us to partner with the City of Groton to design innovative stormwater infrastructure aimed at addressing the longstanding flooding issues in the Five Corners neighborhood. 🌧️ The funding has supported a comprehensive stormwater assessment to study the affected areas and develop nature-based solutions. These solutions will help the City manage more extreme and longer-duration rain events in the future, enhancing community resilience and protecting our environment. #ConservationSuccess #TNCinCT #SustainableSolutions #CommunityResilience #NatureBasedSolutions

At The Nature Conservancy, we know that conservation thrives through collaboration. When faced with the challenge of encroaching trees threatening sagebrush habitat and the wildlife that depends on it, like elk, pronghorn and sage-grouse, we join forces with landowners, public land agencies and others who care about the extraordinary habitat of the Sagebrush Sea. As part of the Southwest Montana Sagebrush Partnership, we strategically thin trees along forest edges and conduct controlled burns to reintroduce fire to the landscape. These efforts help control forest encroachment and restore a more resilient sagebrush ecosystem. 🎥 In this short video, see how The Nature Conservancy’s Sean Claffey, landowner Terry Todd, and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks biologist Dean Waltee are working together to restore sagebrush habitat for both people and nature.
