You know it can be tricky getting those physician referrals But when you do get surgical patients, it's crucial to get them scheduled fast. Why? Because the doctor has a strict follow-up timeline. As soon as the surgery happens, the patient starts therapy. If they show up for their follow-up appointment and tell the doctor they haven't even started therapy yet, yikes - the doctor will be upset. More importantly, you need to see these patients quickly for medical reasons - to check the incision site, make sure there's no infection or wound issues, confirm they are mobile and walking properly after surgery. Getting them in right away benefits the patient. So next time you get a surgical referral, clear some slots and prioritize getting that patient on the schedule pronto. It makes the doctors happy and helps lead to better patient outcomes. Everyone wins.

In Medical Device Sales, flexibility and patience are crucial for managing delays in surgery. Here are some key points to remember: 1. Anticipate delays in surgery start times, as it is common for procedures to begin later than scheduled. 2. Utilize your time efficiently during hospital visits by having alternate activities planned in case of waiting. 3. Be understanding of the surgeon's workload and considerate of their pace during procedures. 4. Be flexible regarding the timing of surgeries labeled as "To Follow," as they may start earlier or later than originally planned. 5. Acknowledge that surgeries can be canceled unexpectedly, and be prepared to move forward accordingly. 6. Be prepared for potential disruptions from "Add-On Cases" and maintain flexibility with your schedule. Remember, you are part of the healthcare solution for the patient. Act like it. #MedicalDeviceSales #SurgeryDelays #Flexibility #Patience #HealthcareSolution #Adaptability #Surgeons #HospitalVisits #Efficiency #Professionalism

How do your hospital’s day surgery rates compare with others? Does your day surgery performance place you in the top 5% of performing trusts or are patients being admitted for inpatient surgery when they could be managed safely as a day case? Can this be justified given the huge backlog in surgical waiting lists and pressure on inpatient beds? You can find this information in the BADS Directory of Procedures National Dataset (DOP). This is the ‘go-to’ publication recommending day case rates for over 200 surgical procedures, arranged by speciality and defined by OPCS codes. The latest update includes new OPCS 4.10 codes. It also shows the day surgery performance of the top achieving 5%, and 50% of English hospitals for all the operations listed with potential release of inpatient beds and cost savings achieved by maximising day case rates. What’s stopping you and can you justify your inpatient surgery rates? Free to BADS members https://lnkd.in/dzx3r2in #DaySurgery #DayCase
