*𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪ó𝘯 𝘦𝘯 𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘢ñ𝘰𝘭 𝘦𝘯 𝘦𝘭 ú𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘰 post* We are proud to share that our 𝗔𝗜 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 strategy has been awarded for its impact in recent years and selected by the Paris Peace Forum to participate in the prestigious 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲-𝘂𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺. This opportunity will allow us to maximize our impact on the #conservation and #restoration of #biodiversity, accelerating our mission to integrate #emerging #technology with #ancestral #knowledge. In this way, we can create concrete solutions that boost the resilience of ecosystems and the communities that depend on them in Latin America, a region home to 40% of the planet's biodiversity. Our strategy seeks to create alliances in a meaningful way and under the principle of #two-way learning with Indigenous, Afro-descendant leaders and bioentrepreneurs, among other actors, to ensure that the solutions are not only effective but culturally relevant and sustainable. 🌱🤝 A milestone in implementing this strategy was during #COP16 when we launched the #JaguarBioCorridor Alliance through the NaturaTech LAC initiative, led by the IDB Lab and the Inter-American Development Bank Group, together with C Minds and our strategic partners. This Alliance aims to establish a cultural, technological, data, and cross-border policy interoperability model. At the same time, it seeks to design mechanisms that contribute to closing the financing gap to allow frontline guardians of nature, particularly Indigenous Peoples and Afro-descendant Communities —who currently have access to only 1% of the global resources available for biodiversity— to access the resources necessary to conserve and regenerate their territories under good living schemes. The C Minds team is very excited, and we thank the Paris Peace Forum for this recognition and platform that will accompany us in scaling our impact in 2025. 🚀 We are convinced that these types of societies allow us to create new realities in which emerging technology, ancestral knowledge, new regenerative economic forms, and nature coexist. As our founder Constanza Gomez Mont says, " 𝘐𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘰 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘯-𝘯𝘦𝘨𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 🌎✨ And, of course, a deep gratitude to our partners in these transformations, including IDB Lab, IDB, the Multi-Donor Trust Fund for the Bioeconomy, IUCN, Google, Government of the State of Yucatan, Huawei, Universidad Politécnica de Yucatán, Christopher Cordova Agency, Climate Collective, French Government, Sida, Government of Quebec, CRIM and many more 🙌

Shall we pretend that science is true? Indigenous perspective and reflections on the future The bad news, therefore, is that we have less than 6 years of life remaining. The good news is that we have them, less than 6 years. We all believe in science, but no one behaves accordingly. What if we changed? How many times have we asked ourselves: if I had 6 months to live, what would I do? In a world where we coexist with flat-earthers and in the digital web, trapped between opinions and fake news, how many times do we wonder: what is the truth? What are the scientific data to defend it? Check out the social-ecological benefits brought by alternative bioeconomy pathways adopted in Thailand and Brazil, and see how the G20 can help scale up these impacts 🧐
The bioeconomy has significant potential to address the polycrisis of biodiversity loss, land degradation, and climate change. This new policy brief for G20 countries highlights the benefits of smaller-scale and more diversified bioeconomy pathways that prioritize the socio-ecological dimensions of the bioeconomy. Using examples from Brazil and Thailand, researchers illustrate how it’s possible to promote the bioeconomy while ensuring socio-ecological safeguards. These are grounded in local community development and sustainable use of biodiversity for bio-based goods and services. 🇧🇷 🇹🇭 Through these case studies, the brief offers principles and policy recommendations to support the development of the socio-bioeconomy worldwide, which is equally relevant for upcoming dialogues at the Global Bioeconomy Summit (GBS2024) being held in Nairobi on 23-24 October. Last Friday WWF-Belgium and The Shift vzw/asbl launched "The Biodiversity Shift" during European Business and Biodiversity Forum. A good opportunity to highlight how companies can and should consider the planetary boundaries in their business. 1️⃣ Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) for Nature is a holistic framework for building a strong biodiversity policy, from measurement to monitoring, reporting, and verification. The framework has been tested, and will still evolve in the coming months and years based on experiences. The framework is compatible with the guiding Sustainability Reporting standards, such as #CSRD. 2️⃣ The evidence is there, we need #leadership. My reasoning is always: a politician and/or CxO is often also a mother, a dad or family member of the younger generation. Think about them when taking a decision. No need for deregulation, let's go for efficient implementation and positive voluntary action as from day one. 3️⃣ It is not an easy job to be done. Both horizontally (full supply chain) as vertically (interlinked in depth assessments). It requires unusual and multi-complementary competences to work together. As always: think big, start small and move fast. From my side, the event has put the topic and #SBTN again closer to the center of my radar. It might even bring it the center of Net Circular. #biodiversity #shift #bold #curious #participative More info - https://lnkd.in/e4gXfBux - https://lnkd.in/eikTnfWk - https://lnkd.in/ez6c8yCk
