Tailor your skills and experiences to the job description, using examples to showcase why you will be great for the role. 2 Success Profiles: You may be asked to give examples of your work against the Civil Service success profiles. The job advert will detail which ones will be assessed and when - prepare by reading what is required for each behaviour.  3 STAR: Use the STAR format when talking about your experience (Situation, Task, Action, Result). "You're replaceable. You leave today, they'll hire someone to take your spot tomorrow." I'm not so sure about this commonly used saying. The second part _maybe_ is accurate, but taking someone's "spot" and taking on their duties is one thing - actually finding someone who did what you did - to the level and with the care and precision (let alone talk of institutional knowledge) - is a whole other thing. (Yes, that sentence is an English-language nightmare - I'm a STEM educator, not an ELA teacher) ;0) But seriously - I think people leaving jobs is an extremely disruptive event for institutions and companies. It can often force them to go in entirely different directions. As much as we're not supposed to make decisions around individuals, it sure does happen...! Why? Because you bring something special. When that company or institution hired you, they struck gold. So yes, maaaaybe your position can be filled in a short amount of time, but being "replaceable?" I'd question that one.
