To solve the climate crisis, we have to fully utilize women’s insights and intelligence and experiences. Which is why Heading for Change is building a portfolio of funds investing at the nexus of climate solutions and gender equity. How do we do this? Late last year ImpactAlpha hosted an Agents of Impact call with Heading for Change to delve into our investment strategy, and thesis that centers on women as the ones who are developing, activating and scaling climate solutions. Together with our portfolio funds we shared our thinking, processes and experiences in deploying capital at the intersection of #climate and #gender issues. 2024 is coming to a close. This year has been one of learning, listening, and striving to honor Indigenous communities' stories, resilience, and wisdom. We’ve seen progress in some areas—more organizations are embracing Indigenous voices in decision-making, and conversations about reconciliation are becoming more than symbolic gestures. Yet, there’s still much work to be done to address systemic barriers and create meaningful change. For me, truth and reconciliation go beyond acknowledgment; it’s about action. It’s about holding ourselves accountable to Indigenous communities and ensuring that future generations inherit a society that respects their culture, rights, and contributions. As an Indigenous person, I am both hopeful and determined. I’ll carry this energy into 2025, advocating for equity, understanding, and the unshakeable belief that reconciliation is not just an Indigenous issue—it’s a collective responsibility. To my LinkedIn community, thank you for engaging in these important conversations with me this year. As we mark the end of Women's History Month, we embrace the start of something new: The SWANA Climate Sirens. 🌍✨  Our years of participation in climate spaces and high-level events have laid a stark reality: the prevailing Western-centric narrative has consistently marginalized the voices from the SWANA region. So after many “angry and disappointed conversations”, we are launching the beginning of a new era in climate justice. An era where SWANA voices of young women are not only heard but pivotal in reshaping our collective approach to the climate crisis. Women, often disproportionately affected by climate change, have long been sidelined in decision-making spaces dominated by men. Despite their critical role in communities, particularly in the Global South, their voices remain underrepresented in climate leadership. Yet, rather than accepting this imbalance, these women are using their exclusion as a driving force, turning eco-anxiety into a catalyst for global change. We delve into the emotional journey of these "dangerous women" as they navigate their roles in the climate movement.
