I just watched a $55M apparel brand's supply chain implode. Mexico's new tarrif changes everything... Firstly, my heart goes out to all the brands who are impacted by this. Business is hard enough and this is going to really hurt some of our favourite brands. FOR CONTEXT: Brands were shipping Chinese goods into Mexico under a zero tariff program, then driving parcels across the border into San Diego with 321. Under Section 321, anything under $800 retail value could enter the US duty-free. Here's what's happening now: THE CHANGE: - Mexico suspended 321 for apparel - New tariffs on all future apparel imports - Effective immediately - Impacts current shipments - Even hits containers on water - Runs through April 2026 (but forever) But here's what nobody's talking about: This isn't about timelines or temporary changes. This is about Mexico protecting their textile industry from Chinese imports that have been decimating their local manufacturing base for years. The writing has been on the wall, we just weren't reading it. THE REALITY: 1. Current Impact: - All apparel through Mexico = Now paying import duties - Existing containers = No exceptions - Current routes = Need immediate change to US or Canada 2. What Still Works: - Non-apparel 321 through Mexico - All 321 shipments through Canada (very similar program) - Standard import/export channels THE TRUTH: Nobody's waiting until 2026. The smart brands are already moving. The rest are about to pay a heavy price. Because here's what's coming: - Route capacity issues - Premium pricing for alternatives - Broker bottlenecks - Margin challenges What you need to do NOW: - Contact your customs broker - Review active shipments - Calculate new landed costs - Plan alternative routes - Consider Canada options We ship millions of parcels through 321 every year. Happy to introduce you to partners, answer questions, or help you utilize one of our US or Canadian warehouses. Questions? Drop them below.

Dear all, Greeting from Sullivan from CNTRANS. According to my team, we have received information from abroad that Russia's policy on restricting the transit of related goods may change. Russia will further refine the HSCODE content of restricted dual-use goods, rather than general restrictions. The following is the relevant original text for reference only: "Chinese suppliers report that Russia will soon ease restrictions on rail transit from China to Europe. Chinese agents assure that in the coming days, Russia plans to relax restrictions related to sanctions that it introduced in mid-October. These changes are expected to allow the transport of goods that cannot be used for military purposes or do not serve military applications. This means products such as machinery, footwear, or clothing — provided their nature and intended use are precisely specified — may once again be transported via the New Silk Road. Key codes: It turns out that precise descriptions of goods, along with complete 8-digit codes, are critical. Exporters, freight forwarders, and importers have received guidelines through China indicating that to take advantage of possible transport facilitation, they should pay special attention to: Detailed product descriptions-Each product should be described accurately to rule out any doubts about its intended use. For example, in the case of footwear, it is recommended to specify the type, such as "ski boots" or "sports shoes," rather than using a general term like "footwear." Comprehensive customs tariff codes-Customs documentation, including invoices and packing lists, should include the most detailed customs tariff codes possible. This will enable the unequivocal classification of goods, facilitating qualification and eliminating potential border issues. Clear documentation-It is essential to prepare complete transport documentation that clearly indicates that the goods are not dual-use. Close cooperation with freight forwarders-Organizing transport through Russia will require close collaboration with freight forwarders, who will properly prepare the documentation." My team and I are currently closely following the latest developments. We are verifying relevant information with Chinese train stations. I will continue to update the relevant content. If you have any questions about freight information from China, you can contact me directly on LinkedIN. 🤝

Great update from Roxanne Robinson for Fashion Network. Random tariffs hurt the industry. Additional broad tariffs will increase consumer prices--no matter where the goods are made. And fashion items as scarves and handbags are not the culprits of trade imbalances or technology appropriation. This will squeeze our already tight margins and put brands out of business.
