On 20th September, the memorandum on extension of agreement on academic exchange has been signed between Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo and Swedish University of Agricultural Science. This year marks their 20th anniversary of their collaboration. The event took place at The University of Tokyo at the presence of researchers from the two universities. The purpose of this agreement is to prolong the cooperation in research, exchange of students and researchers but also exchange of academic information and materials. Congratulations!

A wonderful read (2-3 mins): The importance of stupidity in scientific research [1]. Although the title says scientific research, I think everyone should read this. "... The crucial lesson was that the scope of things I didn’t know wasn’t merely vast; it was, for all practical purposes, infinite. That realization, instead of being discouraging, was liberating. If our ignorance is infinite, the only possible course of action is to muddle through as best we can." " ... Science involves confronting our ‘absolute stupidity’. That kind of stupidity is an existential fact, inherent in our efforts to push our way into the unknown." "... The more comfortable we become with being stupid, the deeper we will wade into the unknown and the more likely we are to make big discoveries." [1] Martin A. Schwartz; The importance of stupidity in scientific research. J Cell Sci 1 June 2008; 121 (11): 1771. doi: https://lnkd.in/dpgFwm_u

There is a transcending academic and research potential in India and Mexico. India-Mexico Research Consortium (IMRC), under the aegis of Embassy of India in Mexico, is a bilateral research consortium to explore academic and research synergies of both countries. IMRC is a platform to explore research collaborations between the higher education institutions of India and Mexico, but also to disseminate the goodwill research for the well-being and knowledge management in the society. IMRC Publishes a triannual Research and Development Digest published in February, June, and October. This is an online publication on diverse topics of physical and social sciences, humanities, and management. The Volume 1 Number 2 of the Digest has been published in October 2024 with focus on Advances in Agricultural Science. Please find attached the Research and Development Digest, V1N2, October 2024 for your information. You may find it interesting and useful.

PhD life: thesis submitted and I have applied for examination in early 2025. My study focuses on the theories underpinning how and why we consume news. At a basic level, we want news so we can be informed, entertained, and stay connected to others. How we do this is evolving within today's high-choice information environments, both as expectations change and as technology offers more affordances. With Massey University.

Aytekin Huseynli, an assistant research professor at the Brown Faculty of the University of Washington and a member of the editorial boards of the journals "International Social Work" and "International Journal of School Social Work", conducted a training on the topic "Fundamentals of Scientific Activity at a Research-Oriented University in the USA". The participants in the training got valuable information on the basic principles of scientific research and the development of scientific activity at research-oriented universities. #SumgayitStateUniversity #Training #ScientificActivity #Research #Education #Science #EducationDevelopment #SDU

Hi all, My PhD thesis is finally out! and open access! I encourage anyone doing research on interregional migration or anyone curious about interregional migration or interested in the application of novel econometrics models in general to have a look. The thesis is about determining how trends in aggregate interregional migration rates vary among developed countries and establishing the factors underpinning these trends. I find that trends in aggregate interregional migration have been heterogeneous among developed countries, and this is explained by within-country regional variations in economic and sociodemographic transformations and cross-country variations in regional amenities differentials. The university has made significant progress in the past few years. There has been a 66% increase in the number of Master's degrees awarded, an 80% increase in doctoral degrees awarded, and an 80% increase in staff holding NRF ratings. Moreover, research outputs have increased by 82%, including articles published in scientific journals and comparing the years 2011 and 2014. The proportion of academic staff holding doctorates has risen to 32%, which is relatively high in the university technology sector, and approximately 50% of the research outputs were published in international scientific journals. #CUT20YearsStrong
