Collaborative innovation lies at the heart of what we do at J&J, recognising that no single entity possesses all the answers. We are driving partnerships across the mental health ecosystem - with technology experts, with mental health healthcare professionals, and with patient advocacy organisations such as GAMIAN-Europe and EUFAMI. Together we can break down barriers to accelerate innovation and access to address the scale of unmet mental health needs in Europe, where 40 million people are impacted by depression. Yet, 3 out of 4 people currently do not receive adequate treatment. Behind these statistics, are the personal stories from millions of friends and relatives from across Europe whose lives have been shattered by major depressive disorder. At Johnson & Johnson, we remain steadfast in our commitment to reducing the burden and disability caused by serious nervous system disorders leading with a precision approach in psychiatry to deliver breakthrough, outcome-improving solutions in areas of critical unmet need. Together we can mobilise change. Together we can be the change. #EuropeanMentalHealthWeek #MentalHealthAwareness

The language of emotions is the most challenging language to learn. 🚨 The emotional language can only be learnt through interpersonal objects. ✅ Emotions are simply physiolgical signals with the aim of meeting a need. While we can give them names (Feelings) - these names do not encompass the variety or intensity of these signals. The human experience is about understanding how these signals influence behaviour and cognition to meet these needs AND whether these actions and thoughts are adaptive or maladaptive. #emotions #neuroscience

Clinical Research Psychologist and co-director of the Ethical and Legal Implications of Psychedelics in Society program at Baylor College of Medicine Dr. Lynnette A. Averill, PhD explains how these groundbreaking treatments are revolutionizing mental health care. This clip was from our recent panel in Dallas Texas with the Psychedelic Society of Texas. Unlike traditional SSRIs that can take weeks to show effects—if at all—psychedelics have demonstrated rapid and robust changes in symptoms within hours to days. This swift action is attributed to their unique ability to enhance neuroplasticity, literally rewiring the brain’s neural pathways. As a key advisor for TX House Bill 1802 and Texans for Greater Mental Health committee member, Dr. Averill is at the forefront of the landmark clinical trial studying psilocybin for Veterans with PTSD. This research showcases Texas’s leadership in exploring innovative mental health solutions to address the mental health crisis facing our country. As Dr. Averill explains, the potential of psychedelics to offer faster, more effective relief for those struggling with mental health conditions, including those at risk of suicide, cannot be overstated. Follow our page Texans for Greater Mental Health for the latest research findings, legislative updates, and ways to support this crucial mission. Share this video to spread awareness about these transformative treatments and help destigmatize psychedelic research. By educating our communities, we can pave the way for increased access to these promising therapies. Together, we’re reshaping the future of mental health care. 💫 _____ #psychedelicresearch #texas #psychedelictherapy #mentalhealth #ptsd

Really important piece of work out about therapists and shifts in and intensification of their work from my former colleagues at Data & Society. Big implications for how much we rely on online therapy platforms and how sustainable those shifts are for the humans doing the work.
In Doing the Work: Therapeutic Labor, Teletherapy, and the Platformization of Mental Health Care, Researcher Livia Garofalo examines the changing realities for mental health professionals in the US as therapeutic labor is restructured by teletherapy services and digital platforms. The report argues that the changing conditions of therapeutic labor — the economic, technological, and professional arrangements of online therapy via platforms — are redefining therapeutic work: how mental health providers make a living, how they understand and give meaning to their professional identity, and how they relate to their clients. In doing so, this research challenges popular narratives about teletherapy services and digital platforms, and who they serve. Visit our website to read the full report and watch an animated preview video. https://lnkd.in/gN8VUgVh

Ada was tested by a team at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, involving a diverse group of users including psychotherapists, students, and laypersons. The study analyzed 20 different mental health cases, revealing some remarkable outcomes: 📈Correct diagnoses were identified in 58% to 79% of adult cases. 🔍 When considering additional possible diagnoses, accuracy improved to an outstanding 88% to 92%. 🤝 Ada’s diagnostic accuracy (Kappa=0.78) is on par with the level of agreement typically seen between two professional psychologists. ⏱️ The app completes detailed assessments in just 7 minutes. At Ada, we continue to welcome independent third party research into our products, including our AI-powered health assessment. This research underscores Ada’s potential to significantly enhance diagnostic quality, making mental health care more accessible and efficient.
