The primary assignment in Alan Abrahamson's 'Sports & Society' course this spring is launching a sports-themed blog. From our syllabus, “launching the blog jump-starts each student’s identity in the marketplace – to write, or post videos, or both, on whatever it is that is the thing, or things, of interest. It could be football. Or futbol. It could be statistics or lists or analysis. It could be commentary. The important thing is to be out there.” So, here I am being out there! Writing more on a more consistent basis will be a challenge for me – but one I’m excited to take on. My intention for the blog is to examine various happenings in the world of sports business and provide my take, along with takes – hot, mild, or somewhere in between – from other voices in the industry. Please do not hesitate to comment with your take(s), and in the meantime... (Don’t) Pardon My Take: https://lnkd.in/gv5ZzPdU

Preseason plans in Europe intensify as top football clubs begin international tours and engage global fanbases. Several leverage fan engagement in the US, but how will they maintain fandom year-round? How will they nurture a meaningful connection with these overseas fans that can be leveraged commercially? FanFest empowers football (soccer) teams to build and reward regional fan communities by combining loyalty programs with localized content and gamification features. Last season, we helped leading football rights holders engage international audiences across 72 countries, with 52% of the engagement focused on the US. For example: The Premier League created a Festive Fixtures series incorporating match day polls and contests to engage and generate insights from US-based supporter clubs and super fans. Thanks Alexandra, Harry, and Comcast SportsTech! Manchester City Football Club created more localized experiences for their US fans, leveraging on-air talent and live chat- and host-moderated questions to drive engagement. Thanks Arielle and Paul! Paris Saint-Germain enhanced their global loyalty program by delivering a Fan Club members-only series to North America. Thanks Arnaud and Raphael! We’re proud to have helped rights holders like these - and others such as San Francisco 49ers (thanks Nicholas and Amber!) - connect with their international fans.
