How did Pride Month come and go so quickly?! We have another week to celebrate, and the rest of the year to support LGBTQ+ programs and orgs!💖Here are some neat organizations that provide LGBTQ+ outdoor programs and camps to their communities: 💫 @bravetrails is a national non-profit organization dedicated to LGBTQ+ youth leadership. They offer accredited summer camps, backpacking trips, family camps, mental health services, meet-up groups, and year-round leadership programming. All of their programs focus on helping LGBTQ+ youth find what they need most to thrive. 💫 @confluence.collective works collaboratively to remove barriers, support individual + community growth, instigate change, and amplify stories more representative of human diversity on the water. They host fly-fishing campouts in the summer in multiple locations, and their registration is currently open! 💫 @camptentrees is a place for diverse youth in Washington State who share common experiences to come together and form a community that is truly their own. In addition to traditional camp activities like swimming, archery, and nature hikes, campers engage in age-appropriate workshops exploring identity, issues of oppression/privilege, youth coalition building, social justice, and more. 💫 @cottonwoodgulch is a grantee of the @nmoutdoorrec New Mexico Outdoor Equity Fund. They create outdoor learning adventures for youth from all backgrounds that foster personal growth, strengthen community, and inspire stewardship of the natural world through summer camping and backpacking experiences. 💫 @queersurf currently serves 12000 queer, nonbinary, and trans wave riders annually through in-person programming in California. Their mission is to connect queers to their bodies, and the ocean, create an inclusive surf community, support queer mental and physical health through their relationship with the ocean and expand surf culture by advocating a culture of belonging on the waves, and support the engagement in marine science and coastal stewardship. Check these organizations out and visit their websites for more info on current campouts and registrations! #OutdoorsForAll #OutdoorFUTURE #AllBodies #Pride

🌍 It’s #BuildForChange Monday! The ‘challenge question’ I am exploring today was brought up by Helena Olsson, member of the Stockholm Nonprofit & Social Impact Network. 🔍 What does feminist and LGBTQI+ solidarity look like in the rise of anti-gender mobilization? Here are some insights that came to mind from my personal perspective: 📞 Individual and institutional efforts to not only speak up and amplify, but also to observe, research and listen 💸 Mobilizing resources for grassroots organizations and movements 🧳 Acknowledging that the anti-gender movement works across borders, replicating similar initiatives around the world What does feminist and LGBTQI+ solidarity look like for you? —— Every week I'll share a LEGO model in response to a ‘challenge question’ related to driving social change or working in the social impact sector. These are examples of how the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology could be used in your workplace, community and beyond. You can join me on this creative journey by sharing your reflections (or models) in the comments! I’m looking forward to next Monday! If you’d like to discuss potential workshop ideas, don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s build #TangibleChange together!

⚡ Excited to see our work at Dreilinden gGmbH featured in Alliance magazine! 📣 Shout out to Claudia Cahalane for taking the time to do a deep dive on the complex challenges faced by #LGBT+ entrepreneurs in the Global South and bringing them to light so succinctly! ℹ️ Feel free to reach out if you would like to discuss any of the topics raised in this piece. #systemschange #LGBTQIA* #entrepreneurship #impactinvesting #impactlinkedloans
Around the world, #LGBT+ communities regularly face hostile living and working environments and are less likely to be successful when applying for investment, even though they represent anywhere from around ten to 25 percent of the population. This marginalised group disproportionally suffers from mental health issues, lower life chances and incomes, and the picture is far worse in Low and Middle Income Countries. Germany’s Dreilinden Foundation offers a blueprint for philanthropy that wants to make an impact in this space. Analysis from Claudia Cahalane ⤵

Rethink Ireland have reached the milestone of becoming a €100 million Fund for social innovation, and through the work of our awardees, we have impacted over one million people in Ireland 🌟 Together, we are #OneMillionStrong, and one of our awardees who have played a part in this is ShoutOut . They do amazing work to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ people by sharing personal stories and running educational programmes Despite positive #socialchange in society in the past years, young people are still facing homophobic and transphobic violence, bullying and isolation. ShoutOut’s educational workshops in schools and youth groups directly tackle harmful attitudes towards the #LGBTQ+ community and promote allyship, empowering students to act as advocates in their communities. Hear their Executive Director Ruadhán Ó., explain what the support from the HeadStart Fund has meant for their organisation 👇 "We can now reach any school that needs us, no matter how big or small, no matter how rurally located, or how large a town or a city. We now don't have to say no to any school because of capacity" Kudos to the rest of the awardees of the HeadStart Fund, who as Ruadhán mentions, are all doing impactful work across the country for young people to bolster their mental health outcomes 🙌 The HeadStart Fund is a three-year, €3M Fund created by Rethink Ireland in collaboration with the Z Zurich Foundation , Zurich Ireland and Health Service Executive. It supports initiatives offering early interventions, well-being and resilience programmes, and other mental health supports, to young people in #Ireland. #socialinnovation #mentalhealth #socialimpact #pride #mentalhealthmatters Bohemian Football Club First Fortnight Hair Together CLG Liquid Therapy spunout Way 2 Work Ireland

It's a little later than usual, thanks to half term, but if you're looking for reactive PR inspo, great events to get involved with or need to update your internal comms calendar then look no further... 🗳 The upcoming election holds opportunities across sectors. If you have something to say and you're willing to be bold, then there are lots of ways to engage local, trade and national press with a reaction or opinion on a policy promise. 🏳️🌈 Pride Month, June: It should go without saying that changing everything to rainbow colours is not really supporting the LGBTQ+ community. If in doubt, ask those within your organisation that your words will impact, who can give you a sense check. 🍖 National BBQ Week, 1-9 June 🧀 National Cheese Day, 4 June 🌍 Earth Day, 5 June 🚲 Bike Week, 10-16 June 🤖 London Tech Week, 10-14 June 👨🏼 Father's Day, 16 June 🕌 Eid-ul-Adha, 16-18 June ⛺ World Refugee Week, 17-23 June 🎶 World Music Day, 21 June 👖 Wrong Trousers Day, 28 June - a special local mention for the Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal, raising much-needed money for the Bristol Children's Hospital and Neonatal Intensive Care unit. 👩🏼🔧 Women in Engineering Day, 23 June If you're planning a fun story, pithy comment or great internal initiative to align to an upcoming day, it can be a quick win but it is also competitive out there. So, be clear, concise and always authentic for your comms to have value.

As we approach Thanksgiving, I’m reflecting on how fortunate I’ve been and how that motivates me to give back to others facing significant challenges. A good friend who works at City Harvest reminded me of the needs of nearly 50% of working-aged households in NY. Check them out here: https://lnkd.in/eCHKWhzE For those working at companies with matching gift programs, now is the perfect time to maximize your impact. By contributing before year-end, you can double your support for important causes. Here are five organizations I’ve supported that address critical needs across diverse communities: 1. Covenant House New Jersey House– Provides shelter and support for homeless youth, combats youth trafficking, and helps young people with education, housing, job prep, and life skills. Adopt A Senior Organization Connects individuals with aging adults to combat loneliness and ensure they feel valued and supported. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/epFW-EW9 5. SAGE: Advocates for aging LGBTQ+ individuals, many of whom face discrimination and isolation, ensuring dignity and community in their later years. Advocating for Social Equality: A Shared Responsibility Social equality isn’t just an ideal; it’s a necessity for a fair and just society. Every person, regardless of their background, abilities, or circumstances, deserves equal access to opportunities, resources, and respect. Within my own personal life and through my Charity Keeleys Cause, I see firsthand the power of inclusion and the difference it makes in the lives of children living with autism and intellectual disabilities. But social equality extends beyond one cause—it’s about ensuring that everyone, no matter who they are or where they come from, has a voice and a place in our communities. True social equality requires us all to challenge biases, dismantle barriers, and actively promote inclusivity in our workplaces, schools, and social circles. It’s about listening, learning, and standing up for what’s right, even when it’s difficult. And it’s time we all stood up for what’s right ! #socialequity #belonging #equal #equality #standup #inclusion #voice

September 23rd-29th marks National Inclusion Week 2024. Founded by Inclusive Employers, National Inclusion Week (NIW) is a week dedicated to celebrating inclusion and taking action to create inclusive workplaces. Creating a more inclusive society is part of our vision as a charity and is integral to the work we do. This week, our support officers have visited 2 primary schools to talk to children about Duchenne, disability, focussing on how we can help and include each other no matter what our challenges are. Our hope is that these messages will be taken forward, so that the workplaces of the future will be inclusive. The theme for this year's Inclusion Week is "Impact Matters", and centres around the idea that we all have the power to make a profound and positive impact on those around us. What does inclusion mean to you? What does it mean in your work place, or in your child's school, or with their friends? What small things would make a big impact for you or your family? Share your experiences withs us. https://lnkd.in/deBDkkz
