🚀 Summer Internships for Taiwanese Students in Polish Companies! 🇵🇱🇹🇼 At the request of the National Taiwan University, we are sharing information about an internship collaboration program that the Taiwanese side wishes to establish with entrepreneurs and NGOs from Central and Eastern Europe, including Poland, by sending their students for summer internships. 🔍 The 𝗡𝗧𝗨 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 is the first of its kind at the university level in Taiwan. Its goal is to allow selected students from 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗡𝗧𝗨) to undertake summer internships in foreign companies, non-governmental organizations, and research institutes. The program places great emphasis on internships with mentors, whom partner organizations choose to support the students. Under the guidance of mentors, NTU students have the opportunity to become familiar with the working culture abroad and participate in international ventures, which helps them develop future career paths. The internship lasts 12 weeks, from June to September, but the dates can be adjusted to match the academic calendars in different countries. There is also the possibility of extending the internship by agreement with the host organization. The recruitment process consists of several stages. First, NTU OIA verifies the qualifications of the candidates. Next, the host organizations review the application materials and, if necessary, arrange interviews. The final selection is announced by NTU OIA, which also ensures that students have valid passports and visas. The application and preparation period starts in August and lasts until May, when the internship placements are finalized. Internships take place from June to September. All students are covered by group insurance during the internship. Upon completion, students receive course credits and a blockchain certificate co-issued by NTU OIA and the host organization. Host organizations can come from various sectors, such as government agencies, international companies, start-ups, research institutes, and NGOs. Mentors support students with accommodation, transportation, and other daily matters. Host organizations are not required to pay NTU OIA, and issues of remuneration and benefits are agreed upon individually. Mentors assess the students' performance, constituting 70% of their final grade. If you want to host Taiwanese students in your company, please contact the individuals listed below: 📞 Alberto Chang (Manager for Global Relations & Project Leader): changyuming@ntu.edu.tw, +886-2-3366-2007 ext. 224 📞 Olivia Gu (Manager for Global Relations): Oliviagu@ntu.edu.tw, +886-2-3366-2007 ext. 238 #Internship #TaiwanPoland #GlobalRelations #NTU #StudentOpportunities #SummerInternship #PolishCompanies #InternationalExperience

OF PAID INTERNSHIPS: A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE In 2016, I had the privilege of interning at the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR), an esteemed institution of the African Union, thanks to the invaluable support provided by the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria. This opportunity came on the heels of my graduation from the Masters in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa programme. The internship was notably paid, a critical factor that made it feasible for me. Upon graduation, I found myself without any financial savings, making it impossible for me to undertake an unpaid internship, especially one that required relocating from my home country to Banjul, The Gambia. The prospect of spending an entire year abroad without any form of financial support was simply not an option for me. If the internship had been unpaid, I would have regrettably had to forgo the opportunity altogether. Fortunately, the modest stipend provided by the Centre for Human Rights ensured that I could cover basic living expenses and sustain myself during the year. While the stipend was modest, it was sufficient to enable me to focus on my work and professional development without the added stress of financial uncertainty. This financial support not only helped me survive but also preserved my well-being and dignity throughout the internship. It allowed me to fully engage with my role, contribute meaningfully to the Commission, and gain extensive experience in the field of human rights. My experience highlights the profound impact that financial support can have on an intern’s overall experience. Paid internships are not just a matter of financial compensation but are essential for maintaining mental well-being, enabling full engagement, and ensuring that talented individuals from diverse backgrounds have the opportunity to contribute and grow professionally. Why paid internships matter: 1) A paid internship offers financial stability, covering travel and living expenses. This support reduces stress, allowing interns to concentrate on their work without worrying about financial constraints. 2) Being compensated for your role enhances motivation and commitment. It cultivates a positive work environment where interns feel valued and are more likely to be engaged. 3) With financial worries alleviated, interns can focus on developing their skills and gaining valuable experience in a supportive setting. 4) Paid internships provide real-world experience and networking opportunities, which are essential for career advancement. 5) Compensation ensures that a diverse range of candidates can access these opportunities, promoting inclusivity and equality. 6) Financial compensation alleviates stress, contributing to better mental health and overall well-being. Let’s continue support & promote fair compensation for internships, ensuring accessibility of opportunities & that interns thrive professionally & personally.

Do you also think that working for free is a NO-GO? In June, we asked the EU Commission to ban unpaid #internships because we believe everyone deserves a decent pay. Interns deserve a fair income that fully covers their rent, food and bills, and allows living without worrying about making ends meet. With today's proposal the EU Commission will not ban unpaid internships. 😡 This means interns all over Europe will still work for free, in exchange of a recommendation on #Linkedin. If this sounds like a scam, it’s because it is: skills don’t pay our bills, we must ban unpaid internships. Join us and sign the petition to let everyone know that the time of working for free is over ✊ https://lnkd.in/eqgzekks #traineeship #interns #youth #EU
