His research integrates closely with the energy sector, where he serves as an Academic Associate with AFRY Management Consulting’s energy team. From 2022 to 2024, Matthew held the position of Energy Science Engagement Fellow with the Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS), and he was the lead author of the influential State of the Climate for the UK Energy Sector report. His current work investigates the impacts of natural variability and climate change on wind power resources, aiming to improve energy forecasting and resilience in a changing climate.
