Innovative Transition to Practice Program Yields Exceptional Results A recent article in The Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing highlights an innovative Transition to Practice (TTP) program at Hendricks Regional Health that's producing remarkable outcomes for newly licensed nurses (NLNs). Key features of the program: - Two-phase approach focusing on foundational skills and interprofessional collaboration - 8-week skills acquisition period before unit orientation - Rotations through 38 departments for hands-on learning - 10 monthly professional development sessions using engaging, interactive activities Impressive outcomes: - First-year nurse retention increased from 74% to over 94% (sustained for 5 years) - Improved medication administration safety practices - Enhanced nurse well-being and stress management The program's success has led to its adaptation for advanced practice RNs and nursing leaders, demonstrating its reliability and reproducibility. This innovative approach to TTP programs showcases how evidence-based design and continuous quality improvement can consistently outperform benchmarks and positively impact patient care, nurse retention, and overall healthcare delivery. #NursingEducation #TransitionToPractice #HealthcareInnovation #NurseRetention https://lnkd.in/gEjTXNcQ
