I don't pretend to be an expert on this, but this is one of the many reasons I love working at Feather Down Farms. As a society, we're witnessing the rise of screen addiction among our children, I know we are as a family. Recent studies have shown that prolonged exposure to screens can lead to issues like sleep disturbances, obesity, poor academic performance, and even developmental delays. 😔 Here are a few steps I have started to try and implement in our house: 📺 Set Screen Time Limits: Establish clear guidelines for screen time and stick to them. We encourage outdoor activities, reading, and imaginative play as alternatives. 🤳 Lead by Example: My children often mimic my behaviour so I am conscious of my screen time and leave my phone in other rooms of the house to remove the temptation for me to scroll or respond to messages 💻 Create Tech-Free Zones: Designated areas in our home where screens are not allowed, such as our dining table or the kids' bedrooms, to promote quality family time. 🏕️ Enjoy a Feather Down weekend often #ScreenTime #ChildHealth #DigitalWellBeing #ParentingTips #Education #HealthyHabits
In today's fast-paced digital age, it's easy for children to become glued to screens, losing touch with the wonders of the natural world. Yet, amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, there lies a treasure trove of benefits awaiting our children - the great outdoors. 🌱 Whether you live in a busy city or quiet suburbia, the benefits of enjoying the great outdoors span beyond just fresh air and sunshine. ☀️ In our partnership blog with Go Beyond charity, we unveil the multitude of benefits for children when they head into the great outdoors. ➡ https://lnkd.in/e-jQvN_m

With the General Election looming, we formed the Children’s Charities Coalition with Barnardo's, NSPCC, Action for Children, and the National Children's Bureau. We had one goal in mind: To give young people a seat at the table of decision-making. Since then, we’ve worked together to platform young people’s voices and ensure that their opinions, needs, and concerns are heard on a national level. One young person has recorded a video about the impact of the Children’s Charities Coalition, and the importance of involving young people in government decisions 👇 To learn more about the impact the coalition has had, read the full report: https://lnkd.in/evj35_Nm #ChildrenAtTheTable

One of the biggest challenges nonprofits face is having their message heard and understood. Building awareness through communications and marketing can help nonprofits educate their community about their cause and the impact they create. By creating awareness, nonprofits can inspire action and support for their cause, whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word. The PODvocate Project exists to build up nonprofits—and to earn them the awareness they deserve. Click the link below to learn more about us. https://ow.ly/vjeJ50SeoSU

It’s that time, y’all—#GivingTuesday has arrived, the nonprofit world’s rebuttal to the consumerist nightmare of Black Friday. While Giving Tuesday is recognized globally, for me, it symbolizes the profound impact of grassroots community support—the belief that, together, we can effect real, lasting change. Big Big Table Community Café is proof of this power. In a world that prioritizes profit over people, spaces like ours are rare—when they should be the norm. Food insecurity exists not because of scarcity, but because of systemic inequities. At BBT, we are committed to fostering a space where mutual aid and community care take precedence over market logic. Because EVERYONE deserves a seat at the table. Community work is becoming increasingly difficult to sustain. If you are willing and able, please consider supporting Big Big Table today. This is about more than charity—it’s about solidarity, dignity, and justice. Learn more and donate here: https://lnkd.in/emMCXqks In a city that claims to be full of good neighbors, choose to be one not just today, but every day. And remember… it’s better to give than to receive—especially when it’s tax deductible ;) #GivingTuesday #FoodJustice #CommunityCare #SolidarityNotCharity #BuffaloNY #NonprofitImpact #PayItForward #EverybodyEats #MutualAid #DignityForAll #SupportLocalNonprofits #EndFoodInsecurity #BuffaloNY #SocialJustice #BuildingCommunity

Camden is a vibrant, multicultural borough, with 45.4% of Camden residents born outside the UK, contributing to its rich diversity, albeit with significant socio-economic challenges: - At 41%, Camden has the second-highest poverty rate in London. - Camden faces the worst housing affordability in the capital. - London’s Black and Asian communities have been disproportionately affected by the cost-of-living crisis. - Over 2 in 5 Bangladeshis and nearly 1 in 3 Black Londoners live in overcrowded housing conditions in Camden, which is considerably higher than the UK average. - There has been a 39% rise in hate crimes all over London in 2023 compared to 2022. Our incredible community researchers are examining the impact of structural racism on housing, education, employment, and safety across the borough. Findings from our research will inform policy recommendations aimed at key development areas, such as enhancing community infrastructure, improving educational quality with better cultural training and diverse curriculum design, and fostering pathways to employment through collaboration with local businesses. Join us in working to address and dismantle racial inequalities in Camden, and creating more just and inclusive communities for all!
It’s a political bus, but not as you know it. Camden Giving and our friends are heading to Birmingham to meet brap to prepare for a Community Assembly on Strucutal Racim in this September. Community members will be making reccomendations to local political leaders charities, police and businesses. Want to be part of a community-led recommendation? Teenagers are spending more time on social media platforms than ever before. The risk? Predators know where to find them and are prepared to manipulate and exploit them. As we continue to observe #InternetSafetyMonth, let's commit to educating ourselves and our children about safe online practices. https://lnkd.in/gJit7Cgq #HumanTraffickingAwareness #TechThatProtects #HumanTraffickingPrevention #Nonprofit #Charity #ItEndsHere #Trafficking #HumanTrafficking

To be part of a conference like this one and immediately see and hear participants talk about how they are going to use what they learned is a perfect example of what it means to be committed to Serving with a Purpose. #Inspirational
It’s such a pleasure to work with this team to plan and execute the Serving with a Purpose Conference at Ontario Convention Center. We welcome Friends, Trustees, Foundation, & Volunteers from 70+ libraries from all over the State to learn about fundraising and advocacy from experts like Paul Signorelli and Charity Tyler. It’s a wonderful and invigorating day for all of us. So pleased to work with Robin Hoklotubbe, Shawn Thrasher, Ashley Kagan, CHARLES HUGHES, Ady Huertas, Erin Christmas, CHARLES HUGHES, & Toni Cordero
