This National Indigenous Peoples Day, we celebrate the rich cultures and traditions of First Nations people across Canada. B&B Contracting Group is committed to fostering a culture of education, compassion, and mutual respect in our ongoing journey toward reconciliation.
Our recent partnership with the Kwikwetlem First Nation in Saskay Ready Mix strengthens this commitment. It's a powerful reminder of the meaningful contributions of the Indigenous people on whose land we live, work and play.
The Saskay logo itself is a beautiful representation of this. The "Circle of Life," a cycle that knows no beginning nor end, symbolizes our interconnectedness with the land and the Kwikwetlem people. At the heart lies the salmon, a revered ancestor of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm m̀əlsteyəxw (Kwikwetlem People). The salmon's sacrifice sustains all living beings, mirroring the Kwikwetlem's deep respect for the land's bounty. The bear, a steward of the forest, spreads the salmon's vitality, enriching the soil, plants, and ultimately, us. (Artwork by Jody Wilson, 2016 - Coast Salish Artist)
This partnership with the Kwikwetlem First Nation in Saskay Ready Mix goes beyond just business. It's a tangible commitment to learning from their wisdom and traditions. By working together, we can deepen our understanding of the land's importance and celebrate the rich cultural contributions of the Kwikwetlem people. This collaboration allows us to not only respect the land we share, but also actively participate in its ongoing well-being – a future where all living things, just like the interconnected circle in the Saskay logo, can thrive together.
