ICYMI: The recording of our recent webinar What's metabolism got to do with it? is now available. WATCH: https://lnkd.in/epYbBeyH Today, our best strategy to reduce SUDEP risk is to reduce seizures. Metabolic therapies are some of the earliest documented methods to effectively reduce seizures, but their use fell by the wayside with anti-seizure medications. Are metabolic therapies safe? Are they better than medication? How do metabolic therapies work? Join PAME and our moderator Dr. Kristina Simeone for a conversation about the mysteries and mechanisms surrounding metabolic therapies. Our two guest speakers are Dawn Martenz, a mom who will share her experiences using metabolic therapies for over a decade to treat her daughter with Dravet Syndrome, and Dr. Jeff Buchhalter, a physician-scientist who will share his experiences treating and studying metabolic therapies in the clinic. This webinar is generously sponsored by LivaNova.

Sepsis is a major global healthcare challenge.¹ Recent scientific developments provide rationale for hemoadsorption in patients with sepsis.² Adsorption is a process by which molecules are removed from the blood by binding to a membrane or other adsorbing substances.³ Hemoadsorption (formerly referred to as hemoperfusion) is the passage of blood through asorbent-containing cartridge or a hemofilter for selective or broad-spectrum solute removal via direct contact of the blood with the sorbent material or the filter membrane surface.⁴ Understanding of hemoadsorption provided by the 30th ADQI consensus conference is intended to guide the practice and research in the field.² Studies of endotoxin-based hemoadsorption have identified possible target phenotypes for larger RCTs.² As your partner, Baxter is committed to identifying sepsis and innovating for improved sepsis management. With the rise of blood disorders, autoimmune diseases, and the demand for personalized medicine, the need for high-quality cellular starting material is growing. To support #CellandGeneTherapy (CGT) research, BioIVT is proud to introduce LEUKOMAX XL, our new leukopak product providing researchers with a minimum of 15 billion total nucleated cells (TNC) per collection. LEUKOMAX XL delivers over 50% more cells per bag than standard Leukopak Full Paks, offering researchers more cells in one collection and reducing the need for additional #leukopaks—saving time and resources. Available through our U.S. and U.K. collection sites, LEUKOMAX XL enables faster progress in CGT development. Appendicitis is an inflamed appendix. It can cause acute (sudden, intense) pain in lower abdomen. Patient appendix is a small, tubular pouch, about the size of a finger, that protrudes from the lower right end of the large intestine. Poop (feces) moving through the large intestine can block or infect the appendix, leading to inflammation. Inflammation causes appendix to swell, and when it swells, it can burst. Journal of Internal Medicine and Emergency Research (ISSN-2582-7367) is accepting submissions for the upcoming issue. Visit us: https://lnkd.in/g2YUP2sr Manuscript can be submitted to: internalmedicine@maplesjournals.com [Source: Internet] #appendicitis #inflamed #appendix #pain #abdomen #intestine #appendix #inflammation #burst
