Land acknowledgments are becoming more common even if they're still not the norm in places like the U.S. I was inspired to see that #landacknowledgments were all over B Lab U.S. & Canada's #ChampionsRetreat2024, from their website to the breakout sessions to the mainstage. My take on land acknowledgments? They're a start, not an endpoint, as B Lab showed so beautifully throughout the 2024 Champions Retreat. As generations of our elders and ancestors have taught us, we're part of the earth, not separate from it, and our connections to the land sustained our human and more-than-human kin for thousands of years. Our interconnections with the land are the foundation for how we build communities, for how we build bonds across communities, and for how we live at peace WITH the earth. That's why land acknowledgments are important for supporting us in #BreakingBias so we can begin to heal our relationships with one another and the land, but they're just the first step. Supporting Indigenous sovereignty isn't just Breaking Bias for some -- it's building a world where everyone can truly thrive!
