You have perhaps read about how Metrix Partners has recently upped its game in 🇩🇪 Germany. This comes as a logic result of streamlining our existing practice in the country and it highlights our bet for this key hub in Europe, whose culture we also love, except when they win at football ⚽ One of the first projects is the investment of Ship2B Ventures and BONVENTURE in Vivira Health Lab, a digital health startup. Metrix has acted as an advisor to the investors in this transaction. Advising a digital health deal in Germany is an area that requires significant domain and country expertise, since the "German FDA" or Bundesinstitut für Arzneimittel und Medizinprodukte (BfArM, the largest medical regulator in the EU) has put in place a very comprehensive regulatory environment along the #DiGA label. 7 years ago, I opened my first medspa in a tiny room. Zero clients. 3 years later: 12 locations, 50+ employees, and $13M annual revenue. Sounds like a dream, right? Not exactly. Our expansion was a whirlwind of opportunity and chaos. How it happened: 1. Ohio: Our first location. Makes sense. 2. New York: I’m from there. Still logical. 3. Florida: Our top injector moved there. Why not follow? 4. Minnesota & Wisconsin: A guy wanted to sell 5-6 locations. We said yes without even looking at a map. Result? I spent my last year practically living on planes. If I could do it all over again, here’s the ONE thing I’d change: Concentric circles. Expand to locations within driving distance of each other. Build a strong regional presence before national expansion. Why? - Easier oversight - Shared resources - Stronger brand presence - Less travel burnout The lesson? Explosive growth isn’t always smart.
