Anyone offering advice to political leaders over a 4-5 year mandate horizon must integrate practical, deep, advice on how AI can improve public services and lower their costs by 2030. The prize comes from the public policy applications that come from AI. And this must be the terrain of political leadership.

Today I had the privilege to join a panel at Fintech Talents with leaders from banking, energy, and the startup world to discuss Generative AI—not just as a concept, but as a practical tool for driving real change in organizations. We focused on how teams can move past experimentation and make Gen AI a tangible asset to their business, rather than just another shiny toy. Key takeaways: - Bridging the Gap from PoC to Production: There are a lot of PoCs, but how many actually make it to production? Since the entry barrier is low, productionising a Gen AI solution is hard. The key is to begin with the problem and not the technology. - Recognizing and Avoiding Pitfalls: Getting caught up in the “hype” without a clear path to value is easy. We discussed the importance of grounding projects in well-defined use cases and ensuring alignment across teams. - Building Guardrails for Safe, Effective AI: Ring-fencing a Gen AI project to its usecase and realtime monitoring are key. AI won't humanly care, in the end they'll just crush CEO bones like Skynet Terminators. Could be as prophetic, like for our recent Covid, as the movie Contagion, with Gyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon, etc., etc. Your questions at the end are again polarised between heaven and hell.
