The Figure 01 is a humanoid robot developed by Figure Robotics in collaboration with OpenAI. It stands 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 132 pounds. It is designed to be a general-purpose robot that can be used in a variety of tasks, such as manufacturing, logistics, and retail. The robot uses OpenAI's artificial intelligence to power its language and vision capabilities. This allows the robot to hold conversations with people and understand its surroundings. I'm thrilled yet "creeped out" at the same time by the advancements unfolding before us - vibes of "2001: A Space Odyssey." We are on the cusp of realizing the future that has been depicted in films and literature for decades. As Zain Kahn notes, the coming months and years promise to bring about remarkable transformations in how we do many things - work, play, and conduct research, grow, travel... The question arises, however: similar to how personal computers were supposedly going to augmented our productivity to give us so much more free time, will robots enhance our leisure time, or will we find ourselves busier and still overwhelmed? I believe the answer lies in the choices we make. It's up to us to decide how we utilize our newfound time.
