An important day for Para-sport in Australia, Paralympics Australia and the sports sector. An historic $283 million investment in sport announced by the Federal Government. This unprecedented funding, which includes an additional $54.9 million for Paralympic sport, represents a monumental shift in the recognition and support of Para-sport in Australia. Thanks to the leadership and unwavering support of the Federal Government, who have set a new benchmark for the advancement of Para-sport, and we are profoundly grateful for your commitment. This investment is the single largest increase in Paralympic spending by an Australian Government. It signifies not only a significant financial boost but also a renewed dedication to addressing the systemic barriers that Para-athletes face. #ImagineWhatWeCanDo

🏅 🏴 Glasgow has confirmed it will host the 2026 Commonwealth Games Commonwealth Sport, albeit in a trimmed-down version with just 10 sports. 🏴 🏅 This is understandable given the time frames and costs involved. However, having raced in the initial test event for the Triathlon back in 2013, I’m disappointed to see it not make the cut, especially after the excitement surrounding the Triathlon Team Relay event this year at Paris 2024 - Comité d'Organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de 2024. One thing I am very pleased about is the full integration of Para sport into the Games. I think this is a fantastic development for both athletes and spectators, as it allows more people to be involved and witness these amazing athletes in action, while they receive the recognition and support they deserve after years of hard work. 📢 This point was highlighted to me during a conversation with my close friend and para-athlete, Benjamin Pritchard, after his experience in Paris. Several facilities and support from companies and brands (I won't name them here) closed immediately after the Olympics ended, leaving Paralympic athletes without the same experience as other athletes, even though these brands prominently featured Paralympic athletes in their advertising campaigns. I feel that if they are doing this, then they should show the correct level of support for these athletes. This will further inspire the younger generation, increase exposure and potentially that commercial return that I know will be used as an argument against the same support. 🐣 What comes first, the chicken or the egg?! 🐣 There are many factors at play here, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Commonwealth Games going to Glasgow, as well as how Glasgow is preparing to run a fully integrated event! https://lnkd.in/edPjQ69M #parasport #commonwealthgames #inspiringthroughinclusion

Padel and the Olympics: A Sport Ready for the World Stage 🌍🎾 As we watch the Paris Olympics in full swing, it's an exhilarating time for sports enthusiasts around the world. But amidst all the excitement, I can’t help but ask—where is padel? Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports globally, with 50 new clubs being created weekly (PLAYTOMIC Global Padel Report 2024) and millions of players embracing the game. However, the @International Olympic Committee (IOC) has yet to recognize padel. I have high hopes that by the time the world gathers in Brisbane for the 2032 Games, padel will have its rightful place in the Olympic program. At Epic Padel Inc, we're not just spectators to this growth; we're actively contributing to it. We're investing in the sport’s infrastructure, supporting professional leagues, and promoting padel at every level. Our goal is to build a community where athletes can one day compete for Olympic gold. I firmly believe that padel’s unique blend of athleticism, strategy, and social interaction makes it a perfect fit for the Olympic stage. Let’s keep the momentum going and work together to elevate padel to the biggest stage in sports. Who’s with me in dreaming of seeing padel at the Olympics in Brisbane 2032? 🌟🏅 #epicpadel #padel #olympics #brisbane2032 #sportsinnovation #thepadelmovement United States Padel Association (USPA) Padel 22 Blue Chip Clubforce Blue Chip Sports Management Hala Sarkis PLAYTOMIC Ben Nichols Epic Padel Inc Saud H. Para Powerlifting: Structuring the Paralympic ecosystem? In our dynamic world of sports, change is not just inevitable, it's essential for progress. The decision by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to transfer the governance of Para powerlifting to an independent body marks a significant milestone in the evolution of Paralympic sports. Para powerlifting has long been a cornerstone of the Paralympic Games. Since its inclusion in 1984, Para powerlifting has truly captivated audiences worldwide with awe-inspiring displays of athleticism from para-athletes representing over 100 nations. With the decision to spin off from the IPC, Para powerlifting gains the freedom to chart its course, set its priorities, and pursue initiatives tailored specifically to its development and growth. This independence will bring a sense of responsibility and accountability. As Para powerlifting assumes control of its governance, the teams will have to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct: governance structures, stakeholder engagement and priority to the welfare of athletes, from grassroots to Paralympians. But this decision of spin off isn't just about empowering the sport—it's a strategic move that could significantly impact sponsorship dynamics within the Paralympic movement. By transferring governance responsibilities, the IPC might be aiming to free up budget and administrative burdens, shifting the financial and sponsoring responsibility onto one of its disciplines. It's a pragmatic move, but it raises a hard-hitting question: Will sponsors follow? The answer isn't as clear-cut. While Para powerlifting boasts a passionate fan base and inspiring athletes, without the IPC's umbrella and the allure of multi-sport events, will sponsors still be as eager to invest? The reality is, Para powerlifting might struggle to attract the same level of sponsorship interest as before. Sport is a tough market out there, and brands are increasingly scrutinizing their investments. They want maximum visibility, impact, and alignment with their values. Without the IPC's backing, Para powerlifting may find itself fighting for attention against other sports with broader appeal and established track records. This spin-off presents a considerable risk but is also aligned with the values of sport: ambitious goal are served by consistent effort. I am confident Para powerlifting will definitely secure new sponsorship deals, differentiate itself in a crowded marketplace and will prove its great worth to skeptical brands. #governance #sport #budget #sponsoring #Paralympics #Parapowerlifting #strategy

🏅After finishing second in the medal table with 124, how have Team GB seen such great Paralympic success? 🇬🇧 The 2024 Paris Paralympic Games marked one of Team GB’s most successful performances in the history of the competition. China finished with 220 medals (94 gold). Team GB finished far ahead of Team USA, and neither team was anywhere near the top of the Paralympic table. 💸 Over the course of the Paris Cycle, UK Sport has invested £315 million ($415.24 million) of government and National Lottery funds across 53 Olympic and Paralympic Sports. 🔑Investment is key - as has been evident from China and GB’s success. 🇺🇸 Will the LA 2028 Paralympic’s see China’s global dominance ended?
