Volvo Trucks scores five stars in the independent safety test! For the first time, the European consumer test organisation Euro NCAP assessed the safety of heavy-duty trucks. Volvo’s best-selling models, the Volvo FH and the Volvo FM, both received the top rating of five stars. In 2024, it has expanded its tests to include heavy-duty trucks. Following months of stringent testing, Euro NCAP has just released the results of this very first assessment: the Renault Trucks T achieved 4 stars, placing it among the safest trucks on the market. Renault Trucks, a part of Volvo Group, puts safety at the centre of its operations, designing its trucks to meet a clear commitment: reduce risks and create a safer road environment. As it has shown with passenger cars, Euro NCAP offers an excellent way to raise safety awareness and strengthen standards throughout the sector. ⭐ The SCANIA G-Series earns four stars ⭐ Euro NCAP - For Safer Cars, Vans & Trucks recently published the first set of results from its pioneering TRUCK SAFE assessment programme. The G-Series, from the Swedish SCANIA, takes a very good star rating of four stars. It is also awarded the City Safe, a recognition given to trucks that feature technologies or good design that can prevent accidents that typically happen in cities or urban environments. 🚚 The Scania G-series was tested as a partner version of the R. The vision fundamentals are good and benefit from the lower cab mounting height. Its Collision Avoidance performance is good in most areas, and AEB VRU combined with good vision earns it our City Safe accreditation. The XF, from the Dutch/British DAF, takes a good star rating of three stars. It is also awarded the City Safe, a recognition given to trucks that feature technologies or good design that can prevent accidents that typically happen in cities or urban environments. 🚚 The XF delivers class-leading Safe Driving performance for a flat-floor long-haul cab, with very good vision features like deep windows, low belt lines, a lower door window, and CMS replacing mirrors. Its AEB system performs moderately well in front-to-rear and frontal collisions with pedestrians and cyclists. The first Trucks Euro NCAP testing results are in, under the body’s new Truck Safe program, with Volvo’s FH Aero and FM models receiving a full five-star score, while IVECO’s S-Way managed just one star. While passenger cars, and more recently vans, have been held to account by governing bodies like ANCAP in Australia and NCAP in Europe, trucks have managed to avoid the scrutiny until now. The first NCAP heavy vehicle testing assessed models across three key areas; safe driving, collision avoidance and post-crash safety. Our popular Volvo FH Aero and Volvo FM truck models just recieved five stars in the consumer test organization European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP)’s first safety test of heavy duty trucks!
