Another failure to address the rising problems of seniors with communications and technology. The new independent Seniors Advisory Committee has no representation from the ranks of highly qualified and actively engaged seniors to address the Tech aspects(both positive and problematic) giving seniors rising levels of difficulty, nor any highly capable person with the equally neccessary wide ranging expertise on the different aspects of transport, and accessibility and their interactions in both constraints and possibilities! Once again reinforcement of the endemic dependency stereotypes have been fully reinforced and none of the (readily available ) 60-70-80-80+ high level positive and policy experienced parties available have been selected to give the highly capable positive pro bono elders space to help form a channel to the administration for the rising numbers of seniors more than capable of positive actions and codesign in age groups set to multiply several times in a few years and only regarded as a ‘cost’. Read and form your own views. Perhaps the Department has other advisory channels of which we are not aware. But as things stand it is clear that a major (and indeed zero cost ) opportunity to begin to take peer potential step has been lost Clearly seniors are regarded only as problems requiring support and not-as is increasingly becoming evident/a highly capable resource for positive engagement! I invite commentary from any perspective as the neglect of the rising competences of a significant and growing fraction of the active elderly (well into 80s already-and the fraction will grow)of proven capacity to act in a positive, supportive, and expert mode is being ignored-just when the need with such increacing demand fir such skills is soaring-just not if in an older age group. can we really afford to abandon this fast growing community (usually FREE) critical resource? https://lnkd.in/gAWM5SWP.
